Insulin shot-time advice please

Keke was diagnosed 2 wks ago-been doing fine. I administer his Lantus at 1pm and 1am daily. tomorrow-I have to work odd hours-the latest I can give him his shot is 11:15am before I leave for work (which would leave me no time to observe him afterwards). I get home about 9pm.
Suggestions?? Is it ok to give him the shot a cpl hours early???

I am no expert here, but from what I understand with Lantus, giving the shot early is like increasing the dose and late is like decreasing the dose because it is a longer lasting insulin. We are having a difficult time with our Lulu trying to figure out his schedule so that work and life don't conflict often. This is a challenge because our work schedules vary too.
Hopefully someone else will have some good ideas.
