For Jack

Hi, my cat Jack is going to be switching to Lantus. I am just waiting on it to arrive (hopefully by Saturday). Currently, he is on Vetsulin.
I am trying to figure out what the best schedule is going to be for me when it comes to treating Jack with Lantus. Long story short my schedule is rather inconsistent right now so I'm trying to come up with times to give him his shots that will have the fewest disturbances. Right now, that looks like it'd be 6am and 6pm. Once a week though I will be gone from the early afternoon until close to midnight. I have to drive 1.5 hours away for a class. This is going to be the case until the end of April.
So my question/concern is - what would the impact on his treatment be if once a week he didn't get his shot?
I do potentially have someone that will be able to give him his shots but this will only be the case until March :\.
Honestly, worst case scenario I might just take him to class with me :x. Luckily, he likes car rides but that might be kind of awkward and I'm not sure the professor will approve.
