Can a cat go hypo after more than 6 hours after it's shot?? Especially when starting a new insulin??
Thanks for the response, not really what I was looking for. Looks like I'll be awake a while.Absolutely yes!
He's just been steady dropping right at 80 points every 2 hours and his +4 was 166. If he drops another 80 at +6, it will take him to between 80-90. I ask because I wanrt to know if I should stay up and get a +8 to see if he's not dropping dangerously low.I was taking your question as a hypothetical one. Cats can nadir a lot later than +6, depending on the cat and situation. With Lantus, Apollo's drop in numbers should start slowing down as he gets towards nadir. Once you get to that point, he'll probably be good for the night.
Hi Dave, if this were my cat I'd absolutely want to get at least one more test, since this is 'new territory' and I'd want to be able to see what was going to happen. If you see the rate of drop slowing right down then it's 'likely' that that slowing down will continue.I ask because I wanrt to know if I should stay up and get a +8 to see if he's not dropping dangerously low.
