Human meter vs Alpha trk3

Hi there,

This is my first post here ever, so sorry if its in the wrong place etc.
Long story short I brought the pet meter before I discovered this forum and the price per stick in my country is 1.8 each (1.06 USD) for alpha and .60c (.35c USD) each for a reputable human meter. I'm thinking of getting the Accu-Chek Guide Me BG Meter, if anyone has any experience / opinions in that.
Also, I'm just looking at the spreadsheet for the human meter. Am I right in thinking the only difference is the ranges? eg a low / possible hypo event on the pet meter is below 3.8 vs on a human meter its 2.8? Can I directly copy + paste the data from my alpha spreadsheet straight into the Human meter sheet? Thank you.

I used an AccuChek Guide with Leroy. It worked well. It's a basic easy to use meter.

You'll need to create a new spreadsheet for the Human meter.

Anything under 60 mg/dl (3.3 mmol) on the Human meter is considered hypo but you also have to take any symptoms into account. Some cats are ok under 60 and have no symptoms.
 
We consider under 2.8 (50) for a cat on insulin to be too low if you are using a human meter. Note, I did test one of my non diabetic cats in the upper 40's, so it's not too low. We just don't want cats on insulin that low. You are right that we are using 3.8 (68) as the number not to go below on the Alphatrak.

Tagging @Marje and Gracie who can help you get organized so the same spreadsheet can be used but now with a human meter.
