Hoping for advice on feeding / dosing schedule with a job

Next Monday I start a new job and with it, of course, things will change for my furkids.

Right now Jester has me available so he can have the equivalent of free-feeding, as he prefers. But now I'll be away for around nine hours a day and that freedom goes away.

Today I managed to get him to eat almost a can of food around his morning insulin - which is good. Took about an hour - which is normal, but sucks.

I can't leave the food out because Sage - my tortie - will likely eat it instead of Jester. She tends to push the others away and eats out from under them. Plus Jester will wander away from his dish and wait for me to move it to his new location (don't ask).

Those expensive timed feeders won't work for that reason too.

I've been monitoring his bg all week and, for the most part, I think he should be okay without all the mini-feedings. But he'll be one hungry kitty when I get home.

Here's my big dilemma / concern:
I'm shifting his morning insulin dosage to about 7:00AM, but I'll get home around 5:00pm and he's going to want to eat.
Do I do his PMPS right away, feed him, then wait until about 7:00pm to give him the evening dosage?
I should say that there are evenings I go out and need to leave before 6:30 (and one that I have to be gone before 6:00pm) - so those nights I'll be adjusting his injection for that anyway.

I'm thinking that there's not a big difference between a 7:00am and 6:00pm schedule. Would that be a big deal?

Input would be most appreciated.

Hi.
I would suggest that you freeze some LC in ice cube trays and some MC (and probably some HC) and put them in separate bags marked appropriately. Congratulations on the new job, by the way..:cat: I used to leave out a lot of extra food (for my two cats, only one being diabetic) on the days I was worried (and if I was extra worried, I would have a neighbor stop by if possible), to make sure the diabetic cat would have food, if needed. If the civvie ate too much, so be it, as long as my diabetic had some food if necessary. I also, used to get a +11 test, which helped a lot in determining if J.D.'s number were on the rise or or not, upon the the PS.

What are LC, MC, and HC?

I really don't want Sage to eat more as she's already overweight.
I'm more concerned about the timing of the insulin.

Frozen food?

Guaranteed Jester wouldn't touch it. I can't get him to eat food after it's been in the refrigerator.

So, what about the insulin timing now?

The reason for freezing is so it's fresher later in the day after it's thawed and then lost its chill. Some kitties don't like stale wet food with dried edges, etc.

It's a moot point.
1st Jester won't touch food if it has been cold at all.
2nd Sage will eat any food before Jester or Bastian ever get the chance and she's already overweight.

3rd The main questions are all about the timing of Jester's Insulin at the end of my workday.

Here are the main questions again:
