Hello everyone,
My cat Hadley is diabetic and well controlled on Bexacat. A month or so her bloodwork showed pretty high triglycerides, and she was put on Fenofibrate. With this med her numbers have come down a bit but are still too high. We’re sticking with the medication for the time being. My question is about food. She is currently eating canned Purina DM, and the vet would like to keep her on it until her triglycerides get lower. Normally I would be fine with that but in the last week or so she has been eating less of it and seems less interested. She does tend to have low level “simmering” pancreatitis (says blood work) that we treat at home when she seems “down.” I’m not sure if this is potentially what is going on because she is not 100% herself, and I have a call in to her internal medicine doc. I know that’s a lot of info, but I want to be through - I’m wondering if anyone has advice on a food that is better? I want to find something that is good for both the diabetes and the high triglycerides if this is possible. I’m thinking there’s a chance she is just no longer liking this food, which is why I am exploring alternatives. I would love any advice! Thank you so much.
