I have been using the Friskies Senior Diet Chicken & Tuna because it was readily available at the grocery store and has about 25% carbs. Jenks' body seems to respond to the gravy component, but there's so little of it free in the container because it's mostly bound up on the little cubes of food. It's also so thick that I have trouble pressing it through a sieve trying to extract the maximum amount possible. So I end up only getting like 1 or 2 tbsp out of an entire can.

Last night, I tried Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers. There's more gravy in the can, it's thinner, and I was able to extract more through a sieve for at least three doses. But it's not as high in carbs, and it didn't seem to really boost his blood sugar very well.

Are there any brands out there with a significant gravy component that are also >20% carbs?

There is a product called Nutri-Cal that might be a good possibility for you. It's a high calorie gel that is about 70% carbohydrate. While I haven't used it for hypoglycemia specifically, my experience is that it's extremely palatable and well tolerated for cats with limited options. If your cat doesn't like the texture, you could try mixing some of it into his gravy for a boost. The nice thing is that you would only need a small amount for your cat in order to be effective.

I wonder if anyone else has experience using it. Now I'm thinking I should get a tube to keep on-hand!

Then there's making some gravy yourself - fairly simple. (Well ... I can do it.)

Take a tablespoon of fat from meat or poulty and place in a skillet on low heat.
Add a bit of flour and mix well.
After the fat and flour are well mixed, begin adding meat or poultry broth of stock, a bit at a time, stirring constantly to break up any lumps.
When it is a consistency you like, let it cool and refrigerate.
I think it may separate if you attempt to freeze it.
