Help with Marvin please

Hi,

Need a little dosing help with Marvin please. For a little over a month we have been earning reduction, reducing from 11 units. He earned a reduction at 6 units so I went to 5.5 and his numbers started creeping back up so I increased back to 6 after cycle 7. He earned another reduction so I thought I would try 5.75 units. Stayed there for 8 cycles and went back up to 6 after he went up in the pinks. We have been in the pinks for 5 cycles so far. Tested his blood ketones this morning and he is 3.0. He is behaving normally and eating and drinking. My question is can I or should I increase his dose before 6 cycles?

Thank you!

When following TR, you can increase after 4 cycles if nothing under 300. This isn't an option listed in our TR document, cause it should only be done with guidance. But is part of the original wording of Tight Regulation with Lantus or Levemir for Diabetic Cats where TR started, under the section on increasing the dose. I only count 3 cycles on 6.0 units on the spreadsheet. He could also be bouncing from that 75 the morning of the 4th, or it's possible he went lower the night of the 3rd. Holding the dose tonight should tell you if he's just high due to some reason, or bouncing.

Has Marvin been to the vet to see if anything is off such as inflammation in his mouth?

Thank you for the response. I will hold at 6 units tonight as our 4th cycle. Just worried about those ketones.
Marvin had his yearly checkup at the end of July and does have some tarter buildup and gingivitis but my vet didn’t think it was too bad.

Thanks again!
