Hi floor insulin advice, we have been on lantus for almost 2 years. But now I need to buy more lantus cartridges again. But I have some doubts that I would like some expert to solve for me.
Would you switch to another insulin with my cat's data? To levemir ? Also say that my father takes insulin giargina but it is not the lantus in solostar teujeo 300ml could be viable to put it to the cat I know that the lantus has 100ml then that is what I do not see clear ... someone can help me ?

Double check manufacturing... I am told that Levemir will no longer be sold in the states in the new year. I'm not sure what I'm going to do as the later nadir works better for my work schedule.

@Heather82372 - you can try purchasing Levemir through Mark's Marine Pharmacy in Vancouver. If you have a question that is not on point with the thread (since this is about your cat), please start your own thread.

Regarding Sinver, I'm nervous about Toujeo. It is three times as concentrated as Lantus. Since you're not in the US, Levemir might be an option. I'd check at local pharmacies and see if they keep it in stock.

In Germany Levemir will also be discontinued in 2025. I didn't find any information about Spain but I would double check before making the decision. Good luck! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

With Toujeo you can only use pens to shoot, there are no U-300 syringes. Meaning you can only change doses by 1 unit at a time.

I personally liked the switch to Levemir with Neko, but I would check to see how long it will be available in Spain. You can stock up, but it will only be good until the expiration date.

Thank you all very much but according to the pharmacist he has no idea what they are going to stop making levemir nor does the vet have any idea either. We are ruling out toujeo because sinver has a very low dose and it would be impossible without syringes to give him a lower dose than the one he has. And I have a question if we try levemir and it runs out in the market, could we change to lantus again? There would be no other option, would there? Do you experts advise me by looking at sinver's spreadsheet?

If you try Levemir and at some point you can no longer get it, you can switch back to Lantus. Hopefully you would have some notice and could stock up.

Sinver is doing very well as usual but with this insulin he is going a little crazy. Maybe I should read up on how levemir works little by little and start with it to try as you say, you can always go back to lantus. Thank you very much for your advice, if I have any doubts about the process of the change I will contact you... have a happy week.

Tresiba (degludec) is another long lasting insulin cats have used, but we don't have much experience with it here. We have a forum where a few people posted when using it if you want to read through it.

The reason why I switched to toujeo is because my father has it for free by the social security and I thought if it could be useful to sinver. I think I am going to try levemir until they stop supplying it in Spain... thanks for your advice, you are a great help.:bighug::bighug::bighug::kiss::kiss:

I have been reading and insulin levemir is scheduled to be discontinued in January 2025, do you advise us to switch to sinver? Or should we stay with lantus and wait for another alternative to levemir to come out? Can you answer my question?

I can't tell you what insulin is coming next, or even if there will be a replacement. Maybe contact Norvo Nordisk and see if they can tell you?

If you want to try Levemir, you would have to stock up for a while. It doesn't make sense to switch for just a couple months.
