He is surely one of the most confusing cats I have seen. He gets basically the same numbers on 1.75 that he gets at .75. And in both cases, he shoots right back up into the reds.

Wish I had a brilliant insight.....

Any Vets posting on the site that may have some insight???

Sev, give Kitty some time on this dose increase. You went from .5 to 1.75...that is a big jump and body has to adjust and figure out on its own if it is going to use the insulin well, or if it is too much insulin, or if more is going to be needed. Give Kitty a few days and sit on this dose unless he is showing that 1.75 is too much and he starts going too low.

Dr. Lisa Pierson sometimes posts but not for specific cats unless she has a relationship with the cat and owner. She is posting on Lori's PZI post because Lori has consulted her. She does phone consultations; I have no idea of the cost but would say they are worth every penny. She is a FD specialist. I am sure you have seen her website: www.catinfo.org Her email address is DrPierson@catinfo.org

scroll up an d reread what Hope said. Then read all of "copper's" threads, especially dr. Lisa's comments. They may give you some insight to the puzzle that you have named "Kitty"

I missed you post.
Glad Carl pointed it out.

I am not going to change it for a few days. The vet may not like it. But based on last nights drop its possible Could of had a problem if I had gave him that extra .25 units.

OK Sev,
Take a few steps back away from it. If/when you see a nadir that is blue, just quit for the day. Yes, last night was "interesting", and good thing you were watching and saw that green.
Look at the first 4 hours today vs. tonight. Basically the same numbers each hour, except for +4. Once he climbed like that? He's not going too low overnight, right? He didn't go too low today either. Time to just say "damn" and put away the meter till tomorrow morning.
There's no reason glaringly obvious to drop the dose. And it's only been 3 cycles on this dose. So tomorrow morning, he should still get 1.75.

I have to say that I am overwhelmed by the amount of tests you've done since you started that SS. You are paying extreme attention to the numbers, which I understand, given your comments a couple of weeks ago about your personality type. This not a knock on you, more of a knock on me.....but you've tested Kitty more in two weeks than I did in the 10 weeks Bob was on insulin combined. I was definitely not testing enough.
Kitty must look and feel like a pin cushion! I'm nominating him for this year's "Most Tolerant Sugarcat of the Year"!

GIve him his shot for breakfast, go to work, come back and check him once in the middle. Give yourself a break from it.

Do they offer meter anonymous classes here??? :-D
His ears are looking a bit worse for wear. After today it will probably only be AMPS to +3 and then +10 forward. I have be procrastinating getting back to this project.

I was doing exactly that. Then he bounced up a little. I decided to take one last test and he was going down. I double tested with the Relion and it was within 2 points. Looks like that one is a good one. The Onetouch didnt get under 8 points.

This morning he goes to the vets.

AMPS was 306. More slow absorption??? Or just an initial bounce due to the new dose? I have been giving the shot at the side of the chest as an having the least trouble pinching the fur up there other than at the scruff.

By the way. I was thinking about his original blood work. Its been about a month since changing his diet. Whens a good time to get another full work up? I would like to see if any of his numbers have changed due to the insulin and change of diet.

Why is he going to the vets today? He's running with the insulin right now....be a good day to keep him home and keep an eye on him

Just saw your newest post and you've already been to the vets ;-)
