Hello! I have a recently diagnosed (January), un-regulated boy Yoshi who just turned 6 that I'm pretty sure is experiencing DKA and the vet can't see him till tomorrow.
The last two weeks he's been eating everything in sight...sometimes twice as much since he steals the other two cats food also. Then a super sudden pukey and not eating.
Edit: I switched him immediately to FF Pate and Woody's Pet Deli raw food.
Drinking more, lethargic, high numbers, won't eat. Hasn't really eaten since yesterday. Classic DKA
My question: to avoid emergency anything...should I Keep injecting his prozinc w/o food?
How can I encourage him eating without a prescribed anti-nausea?
I started his dosing per vet at 1, then bumped to 1.25, now we are at 1.5-1.75. I had a missed shot last night so am Guessing at ~2 units with his 392 BG. Didn't eat anything but a couple treats, then promptly puked.
His ears have given me nothing but trouble to get reliable blood glucose readings historically - hence un-regulated since I'm doing my best.
I've updated his chart to the best of my knowledge, My mom lives with me and we share food/shooting duties.
