@tiffmaxee My regular vet isn't the greatest, he didn't even want me to treat my cat for his diabetes and wanted me to just put him to sleep. Not many vets around where I live that I can trust.
 
Great. When you are able please answer my questions about labs. It’s unusual for a cat to have primary high blood pressure. Usually it goes along with kidney disease or hyper-t. However, vets don’t routinely test for it until the cats have another disease. I asked for a baseline for Max when he was 12 and both my vet and I were surprised that he did have it. So it is possible.

Ok, I requested the labs from them so we shall see.

The tests they did were:

Alphatrak glucose test
Rads thorax study
CBC
CHEM 17 + LYTES
In House Sedivue
Blood PRessure

Yea, very small. We have two vets, one is getting worse over the years and will try to do the bare minimum, he has no equipment really and the other specializes in livestock and not really domestic animals.
 
What medication is it for the bp? Amlodipine would be too high a starting dose IF needed. Starting dose is 1/4 a 2.5 pill.

Well I guess so. I am not a vet. I am glad you are to go back for a recheck. When Max was started on it we went back in 10-14 days. Just watch for any side effects listed.
