Happy Friday everyone!
Grayson would like to introduce his big brother (but not NEARLY as big!) Herb. Just shy of 10 years old.
One of my "First Five", I rescued Herb and his brothers 8/4/2003 from the attic of a vacant/ boarded house after their mom had been hit by a car (Reggie was SCREAMING, and caught my attention). First litter of itty-bitties I ever had, and bottle feeding about killed me. Herb and his "twin" Peaches  are orange & white tabbies.
On Tuesday of this week, my vet came to the house for the "annual tune-up" - shots for everyone and any additional things I request. I requested bloodwork on Grayson and a few others that had been acting a little "off". Herb's showed BG=352. Totally caught me off guard! He was down to 13.8 pounds, 1.0 less than last year.
He's been transitioned to (exclusively) FF and has earned a tab on Grayson's spreadsheet. I've been testing a few times a day (he REALLY likes FDC! ;-) ) and since the change he's been about 60-80 points lower than the first two readings. I plan to start him on Lev tomorrow. Although he has to share some things with Grayson (food, insulin, etc), he will have his own meter so I can get accurage averages on each.
I'm thinking of starting at either .5u or 1u Lev... and am open to input. G was such a different kitty, he didn't play by the rules. I'm hoping that a "normal diabetic" might show response and even consider becoming diet controlled down the road! (I was hoping the food might do the trick) But he gets the benefit of a mama bean who's not overwhelmed by the new journey. Since we started G on ProZinc, I'm nearly 1.5 years out of practise - so please offer up any thoughts!
Thanks,
Lu-Ann, Grayson & Herb
