The curve went like this:
10:35 AM=409
12:35AM=320
2:45PM=417
3:30PM= 310
4:30PM284
5:30PM358
I hope this helps to give me some idea how to from that, plus his update SS in on the bottom. I am using Prozinc with Loki. Tonights last reading at 8PM was 500
Thanks again so much for you help and advise.

This is the curve from the vet? If so, they are hard to interpret. Stress raises blood glucose levels, sometimes 100 points or more. And most cats are stressed at the vet, with all the strange smells, animals and noises. We like to do our curves at home; we think they are more accurate. The numbers you collect at home will give us better data.

Have we talked about food? Are you feeding low carb? Do you feed several small meals a day? (they can help support the pancreas and "soften" the curve, making bounces from lower numbers less likely)

Hi, yes these are from the vet on 6/28/12 got the #'s from her. Loki is on Wellness Turkey and Chicken as he hated the DM from the vets. He does eat several small meals per day usually 2 0z at a time, also he is now having Wellness Core some of the day, not much just 1 teaspoon at at time no more that 4 teaspoons of that per day. He usually goes thru 6 OZ of the canned also. He was never a big eater just a nibbler.
I have updated my SS and will do so again at 4PM and 8PM.
Thanks again.

The Wellness core is a dry food? If so, I would find a treat he loves (the freeze dried ones are a little crunchy like dry food) and completely eliminate the dry. Even a few pieces can make a big difference in bg levels. Once he is completely off dry, can you plan a curve at home - maybe this weekend? That will give you a real picture of what is happening.

Did you also have a fructosamine test done? A "fruct" test is a one-number "snapshot" of the last couple of weeks, and is of little use if you are home testing. However, you would need to do more mid-cycle testing in order to eliminate expensive (and inaccurate) testing done by the vet. You are correct in the body of your post when you called it a curve...but since it was done at the vet...his numbers are, more than likely, grossly elevated due to stress (unless Loki absolutely LOVES staying with the vet for the day). ;-)

I never noticed the curve vs the fructosamine # I am just an idiot. I will call tomorrow and get the fructosamine results, thanks so much for pointing this out. And Loki hates it anywhere I am not. I am not kidding I went to France last year to see my family and he stayed with a friend, he never came out of under a conforter only to eat when she shut the light off, the day I picked him up he came running as soon as he heard my voice. We have a very close relationship this is why I so want to do this right. He needs me and I do not want to fail him when he has been there for me for 15 years.

You're not an idiot. We're all here to learn. We weren't born with feline diabetes knowledge. You should, however, consider doing the curves at home. You are spending a lot of money to obtain numbers that are not in-line with the numbers you would get in Loki's comfort zone at home. I didn’t spend a dime on fructs after I found this site. I don’t know your vet...but I almost killed my first FD kitty by following vet instructions, and not doing any research on my own. You are already way ahead of me by finding this place early on.

I really think you need to collect more mid-cycle data...especially at night when kitties tend to go lower. Loki's 98 @ AM+8 yesterday concerns me (due to the lack of data) and may suggest you need to lower your dose. We don't know how low Loki went between +5 and +7. Why did you increase by a whole unit from one day to the next? That's a big increase. Also, your spreadsheet is a bit confusing since you are using two lines for one day, but still entering data in the PMPS column. One day should go straight across one line for both the AM & PM cycles...unless there’s a reason you want it laid out the way you have it, I would stick with one line per 24 hours. Okay, I’ll stop pestering you now.

You're doing great. Get some more tests in...ask lots of questions...and hang in there.
