Two blues yesterday for Colin Sharon This may be a real breakthrough!

Thanks Carol! Not a bad start for today either, I'm sure he'll bounce, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

Saw you had another no shot last night. How is he this AM? Is he eating better?

Go, Colin, yellow and blues today - I really think you've turned the corner here
Murphy is back to normal eating wise (I hope) this was his typical after canned food behavior - off his food for a day or two then back to eating dry food fine . I don't know why he suddenly became intolerant of the venison after being able to tolerate it for two months

Glad he's eating. Is it the YA, or did you get the Evo, and Epigen? Have you tried other novel protein canned?

YA - I probably won't try another novel protein for awhile - I should get the Epigen 90 and Evo Wednesday night - I had to order from Chewy's I'm still giving him slippery elm before I go to bed and mid day
but seriously, Sharon, I am so excited for Colin At least you know Colin CAN hit a blue

@Bobbie And Bubba @Sharon14 @Lynn just saying hello to you - Bobbie - it looks like Bubs in making progress - go go go
Sharon - any news on the new black stray you were seeing ? Lynn - hope all is well
I pureed a tiki cat chicken and put some tiki cat tuna in - gave him a few teaspoons and he ate it - now he has diarrhea though - I'm really worried about Murphy's food situation in the long term - I gave him an appetite stimulant last night, and then gave him some Young Again when he was really hungry - but he wouldn't eat it - bad news. I am excited about the IBD website that we found out about earlier today - interesting that fortiflora isn't supposed to be given to IBD cats
hope you both have good and peaceful nights

Good morning Carol, glad Murphy is eating the Tiki Cat so far. Hope the diarreah clears up and you can learn something to help him on that IBD site. Did it say why no Fortiflora? What about other probiotics? I use Premo Probiotics it got good ratings on Amazon, & seems to help a couple of mine.

Unfortunately I haven't seen the new black cat in several days:( My barn cat, Pierre, attacked him and scared him off. I hope he's ok and will come back, but I don't know...

As for Colin, he's the same as he's been since DX, high and flat. I'm used to it now and just going along with it knowing I'm doing the best I can.

ETA: Great news, the black kitty, Jasper, came back this evening! Poor baby was starving. I locked Pierre in the tack room so he won't chase him from the food. Not sure how to get those two to be friends...

Hey Carol, gosh I am so sorry about the food issues, I just know it has to be frustrating as all heck. Keeping good thought that is resolves and the IBD website can help you. Bubba was high all day yesterday, not sure if it were New Dose Wonkiness or a bounce for a nice blue PS number...... up , down, up down........

Carol, do you know of a clinic in Glendale, IL? Someone in L& L land was inquiring about it.

Here's hoping for lower safe numbers for all our babies and Murphy to get back on the feed.

Great news, Sharon.

Bobbie, what is going on with Bubba?
I think what Carol was referring to was that if we gave him Novolin R also, the vet mentioned hospitalization. But we decided against that because it would e counter productive. The vet had no idea just how knowledgeable that Jill and Libby are. My vet wanted Bubba to start at 1 unit on Lantus.......that would have been a big mistake with his ketone problem. I started at 2.5 an he is at 4 units now. No ketones anymore, just need the numbers to come down. Funny, I didn't see this post until today.

Yeah! That is great news. So glad that he came home! I have always used the method of exchanging scent glands from one cat to the other. Rub Jasper along the side of his neck and then go do the same to Pierre. That is how I got Bubba and Forrest to adjust to each other. Repeat it daily a few times.

Only problem is Pierre. He lives in the barn for a reason. He doesn't like other cats, the only one he ever liked was a female, Mandy, that now lives in the house and Dash, a tuxedo(also lives inside) that looks like his friend that has passed. Hope I can get Jasper neutered soon maybe that'll help...I'll try your suggestion though, as soon as I can touch Jasper!

Hello ProZincers! I have been behind on reading posts, so much going on this time of year! Carol, sorry to hear Murphy is having eating issues again, hope that improves soon. Bobbie, hope Bubba has a better day today than yesterday. Good luck with the new stray kitty, Carol, hope the rest of the colony accepts him soon! Hi to Sue, Robin, Cindi and Rachael! :bighug:

Yes Hi everyone I miss our cozy little group with our unregulated kitties. Yes, Murphy has really had a back slide - his GI issues and food issues are here to stay I fear - I don't have hope of getting him regulated any time soon. I spent a fortune buying all sorts of canned food and he won't eat anything. Or if he does like something, he'll end up with pancreatitis and then won't eat it again. I don't know what to try to feed him that he will be able to tolerate It's discouraging to say the least.
Sharon, I am so glad the black kitty came back Poor thing. I am in absolute awe of you being able to manage all those cats - do they all get along in the house? I so hope that at some point Colin will find his magic dose. I worry about you two - what about the R insulin that Bobbie is using ? If it is insulin resistance, would that help? I see you said that you are having a hard time doing the shots again - can you get him shaved again?

Hey Carol, fingers and paws crossed that you will find just the right food for Murphy again. Do you know of a clinic in Glendale Heights? Someone on L & L was asking about it. Thought you might know something.

Hi Carol, wish I knew of something that would help Murphy with his food/GI issues. How is he doing otherwise?
I didn't see the new kitty this AM, I left food out for him and I hope he comes this afternoon. The cats in the house all get along pretty well, once and awhile there's a tussle, but not bad. I think because I let them out some during the day so they get to run around and get rid of some of their energy. There's one, Sebastion, that doesn't like everyone, so he stays in the bathroom at night and out all day.
I'm doing better with the shots again, I think- at least I don't smell insulin. Although to look at his numbers, you'd think I wasn't giving him any! I'm wondering if he might have an infection, his lip looks a bit swollen. I don't know, I guess I'm looking for excuses. I think I will get him shaved again though, it makes it so much easier.

Bobbie - Glendale Heights is a suburb far from Chicago - I don't have any idea where it is let alone any vets there. Sorry - the premier feline practice in Chicago is Cat Hospital of Chicago-it's on the northwest side of the city. Murphy just threw up a hairball - maybe he'll be better now. Although it's hardly the root of his issues.
@Robin&BB - love the new avatar!!!!

@Carol & Murphy - Hi, Carol! Re: The avatar ... thanks! You should have seen the look Bat-Bat gave me when I set that little sleigh beside her and pulled out my phone to take the shot (she'd been napping); as though she was saying, "Oh, you've GOT to be kidding me with this bullsh*t!" (If Bat-Bat were a person, she'd me Ebeneezer Scrooge, I think!:p
I'm so sorry you're still having problems with Murphy's GI tract; can only imagine how frustrating this is for you! Will keep hoping & praying that you'll hit on some sort of food that he will enjoy eating and be able to tolerate on a regular basis.:bighug:

@Sharon14 - Well, if it's any consolation, I gave Bat a fur-shot this morning.:banghead: Could have sworn I'd injected as usual, but no! As soon as I saw her nadir number, I went, "Oooooops! Dang it, must have missed!" Ah, the joys of early morning shots, squirmy kitties ... and failing eyesight!:bighug:

@Lynn & Rupert - Hiya, Lynn - good to hear from you! Yep, the holidays are a time of juggling lots of activities. We miss you on ProZinc ... sure hope things are going well for Rupert with the switch to Levemir.:bighug:

@Bobbie And Bubba - Oh, goody! Just saw that Bobbie gave you a shootable blue after you stalled a bit a tonight's PMPS. Lookin' good today!:):bighug:

Thanks for the suggestion, Carol. My plan is to keep doing what I'm doing until I get the test results for Acro/IAA and go from there. I'll get those tests after the holidays.

I think that's a good plan, Sharon. My guess is that he has some kind of a high dose condition, and in that case, Levemir should sting less at high doses and be the best long term choice for you. I am sure that must be a difficult thought, but as you have seen on the L forums, a number of people deal with high dose conditions successfully.

I have not seen BCP PZI act much differently than ProZinc. It's cheaper and compounded by a pharmacy which are different, but I haven't seen much difference in its action or results.

Sue what about the "R" option for Sharon? using that to bring down his numbers as Bobbie has

I have no experience with R other than to know it is not a good idea with ProZinc because the nadirs can be too similar. Sharon, you might search R with Levemir and see if that is a possible combo for high dose kitties? Or start a new thread on L and ask for high dose parents' help?

We all seem to have problem kitties as far as getting them regulated, it is very frustrating some times for sure. It is not for lack of trying! Murphy's food issues would be really hard to deal with, at least Rupert will always eat, even when he shouldn't! Bubba is ....well Bubba and dances to a different tune! lol Poor Sharon, keeps upping Colin's dose and it doesn't seem to work, very frustrating and worrisome. Even with a well regulated cat, there are fur shots *winks at Robin*, food issues, money issues, litter issues.....and so many unexpected things. We are not alone with these issues and for all the beans of sugar cats, I applaud each and everyone one of you and wish you and your kitties the best! :bighug:

I was able to touch him last night. Haven't seen him yet today. Hope to when I feed the horses in a bit image.jpg

Sharon, you are such a kind soul, you always make room for another poor stray. Bless you! Hope you see him again soon! :bighug:

Thanks for that info and I will pass it on. I am keeping good thoughts for Murphy and that you will remedy the food issues. I know how frustrated you have to be.
