Going down to .10u?

Hi all,

It's been a few days since I last posted anything. I wanted to give Jojo about a week on the .25u to see how he adjusts, and he's now averaging being in the 70s-80s. I'm thinking about bringing him down to .10u and seeing how he does on that. I will have to buy some u-100 syringes, which I plan on doing today. I read that I would draw up .25u on a u-100 syringe in order to get 0.10u for the Prozinc, as that would be 0.10u x 2.5.

I probably should've lowered the dose sooner, but he's been very stable with where he's at, and I haven't been concerned about him going into a dangerous spot at .25u. I can tell he's loving these lower numbers, and he's been feeling so much better with his teeth done. He's so playful now, going out of his way to initiate play with our other cat, along with playing with toys by himself! I've also fully transitioned him to Pate, and he's loving the food. His digestion issues seem to be much better with just the plain salmon flavor.

Thanks!

Hi there! It’s great to hear about how happy Jojo is in the better numbers.

I personally would not reduce the dose because he hasn’t actually earned a reduction by going below 50. I wouldn’t try to rush the process. He is doing really well and is well regulated on the .25 units. Another way he can earn a reduction is if he spends a week in normal numbers (50 - 120) and is largely in numbers below 100 for a week.

If I was determined to reduce his dose, I would switch to U-100 syringes with half unit markings (the BD syringes are good.) Then I would try a .2 unit dose first by drawing the U-100 syringe to the .5 line on the U-100 syringe.

Ohh okay! That's why I posted, so that way I could get your opinion 😁 . I agree his numbers are well regulated with .25, so it seems I will keep him there for a while longer. He has for the most part been under 100, but it has only been about a week.

If I am to switch him, I will use u-100 syringes, but I'll keep him at .25u for longer. Thanks for the help!

I’m really happy for you and for him! I hope you and your mom are doing well too!

I think he’s on his way! Also, the food changes are great and the fact that his digestion is improved helps as well because that will calm internal inflammation. It’s all good!
