My cat Baxter 14 years old was treated (7-21-2026) for a hyper thyroid condition and given radio iodine therapy and 9-15-2026 was diagnosed with diabetes and put on 1 unit of Lantus a day 12 hours apart. After starting the insulin the readings remained between 280 and 330 with alpha trak 3 meter. maintained the 1 unit given for 2 weeks and then increased the Lantus to 1.5 units for 10 days wit readings 219 to 250 waited 10 days and increased to 2 units 2x a day with readings 250 to 320. Increased the Lantus to 2.5 units 2x a day with readings still in the 290 range. I check glucose levels 6 hours after 3 oz fancy feast pate. How can I get his blood glucose lower as advice from the vet requires a visit.
