Gandalf 1/2 300s on .75U

I won't give him the 3 days or however long others should wait on dose changes. 300s are not good for him at this point. I went back to 1U tonight. I can test it out tomorrow, but I'm down to half a bottle of strips.

Does anyone worry about getting strips via the mail when it's so cold? The bottle says "do not store below 36°" but I'm not storing them at zero degrees, although they might be in the cold for several days in transit. Anyone know if that's OK?

It is -7° at my house.

Good question. I just got an order last Saturday and wondered the same thing. I can't remember if I got an order last year at this time. If I did, they were OK. I haven't used any on the new ones yet.

When did you go down to .75u? I thought you were shooting .9u or something? Sorry if I missed something.

Yes, I worried about that too since I just ordered strips day before yesterday. Temp here is about the same as yours of course. I ordered priority mail so hopefully the mail truck will be warmer than the FedEx truck? I don't remember having this problem before and worrying about it...it has just been a very long cold spell and more to come this week...sigh.

I hope the increase works...I wouldn't have waited either.

Had to use that one!! No particular reason, it's just too cute!

I went down to .75U in case .9U was still too much. Remember, he was able to go from 1.2U to 1U with pretty good results. I know something has changed, not sure what. He seems so thin. I know he looks OK in that picture from our profile, but lying down his hips stick out and his sides are sunken in. His feet are also boney now. I'm concerned the obvious muscle wasting could result in ketones if I don't keep him eating and his insulin needs met, which is also why I went back to 1U - he was 296 this AM though, but obviously feeling better as he was more active than last night.

I will get him weighed on Wednesday and every acu visit thereafter to track weight loss. It's going to be so cold, but he needs his treatment and the B12. I will probably put a blanket in his carrier as well as warm the car beforehand and cover the carrier with a blanket too.
