I posted earlier that I wasn't sure if I got the insulin in because its such a little amount. If someone could look at his spreadsheet.. his numbers didnt really change at all so I'm thinking I didnt get it ?
)Oh gosh, really no worries at all, I just thought I'd mention it. Good job getting your first tests in, and we'll see how he does tonight!
While you are waiting for him to come down from those stinkie pinkies, here is some light reading for you...one of the stickies on getting started http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/the-basics-new-to-the-group-start-here.18139/![]()
Yes, it is very strongly recommended not to reuse needles. The issue is possible contamination, plus the needle wears down and would be very uncomfortable for you cat. There are pics in this sticky ...http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...info-proper-handling-drawing-fine-dosing.151/Do I have to use a new needle for each shot?
YES, one needle per shot!Do I have to use a new needle for each shot?

As it's a world forum, one other thing you should add to your profile is your location; and in your signature, add your time zone!I just bought a box of 80 needles and it was $53 . I thought that was expensive .. is it ?
I’d grab a test at +2 or +3 as that will give you a pretty good idea if you need to test later. For most a lower number at +2 means an active cycle so you would want to test again later. If higher a before bed test should do it. Max usually didn’t onset until a little later so I’d grab a +3 and go from there.

He was 361 Pre shot - so if I test closer to 1am what range would be okay to go to sleep ?
Sorry that I'm so clueless with this. Its our first night![]()

Eating can bring him up. He’s high enough that you can stop testing for tonight. Suggest you read the yellow stickies on how lantus works. It’s a depot drug so it takes up to six cycles to see what a dose will do. Some cats respond quickly though so it’s best to get a mid cycle test whenever you can. Also read up on TR and SLGS to see which approach you want to take. You don’t need to do it all at once. It’s a lot to absorb. Get some sleep.
