Yo cats and kittens of all ages

We’re a little late posting today. Da beans had to go out unexpectedly this morning and I can’t start the computer up without Mom bean’s help.

It’s pawty time! Tonight, we celebrate the full Cold Moon! Of course there will be traditional favorites as purrpared by my mentors, Chef Felix, Chef Rusty, and the Kitchen Krews of yore at Cold Moons past:

Appetizers: Icy Cold Adirondack Microbrews; Hot Tuna Toddies; Roasted Squirrel Sausages; Spicy Buffalo Chicken Wings; Assorted Paw Prints Pizzas; Hot Pumpkin Soup with Crunchy Croutons specially made by Felix; Sushi Bar featuring the specialties of Sushi Chef Tux as well as Chef Neko's fabulous sushi rolls (made with ice-caught lake trout).

Entrees: Chef Rusty's Thunderin' Bison Chili; Grilled Wild Turkey Legs; Pan-fried Snowshoe Hare; Chef Mannie's Renowned PNW Poached Sockeye Salmon with Catnip Mayo; BigMac's Burger Extravaganza.

Salads: Butthead's & Donny's Braised Winter Roots; Hot Confetti Slaw.

Desserts: Moon Pies; Tobey's Cimmamum Cookies; Maggie's Signature Cranberry Cheesecakes; Plum Pudding à la Chief Pastry Chef Tess; Surprise Dessert à la Dessert Chef Sootie; Chef Stu's World Famous Catmint Parfaits.

Newer traditions include Leo's Chunky Tuna and Salmon Ice Cream with Sardine Sprinkles; Chef Felix's Sweet and Savory Crunchy Crouton Toppers; Olive's Shoelaceghetti with a side of pickles; TinySolé's sister Cookie's cod brownies filled with catnip; PussCatDusty's crispy birds feet served on baked catnip wafers (mmmmm, crunchy!) as well as her sweet and sour skink tail vol-au-vents & freeze dried plain yoghurt balls; Chef Felix's Mediterranean platter with crunchy falafel, catmint mewli-tabouli, and smoked papurrika hummouse; Chieflet Luna's Longtail Surprise à la Rosa and Regan; KitKat’s Duck pate stuffed cupcakes with catnip icing, served at mousie temperature. You'll find Bella's Catinis at the Bella Memorial Tiki Hut.

For any kitties not feeling up to pawtying, the Taster Blankets including Olive’s Memorial Blanket will be set up away from the craziness for you. The blankets have a great view of the Circle of Remembrance too, and all the other kitties will join you at midnight as the veil thins to see all our precious Gone Ahead kitties. We’re going to make sure there are plenty of extra blankets for everyone to snuggle in if they feel cold too. If anyone needs a blanket, we’ll be stashing them by the Taster Blankets.

Our very own in-house dance troupe, “Ruby and the Kittens” will be showing off their moves to entertain everyone. They tell me they’ve been working on a Christmas themed dance for everyone, so try to catch them in action if you can (and join in too – they love that)! This is, of course, our last Full Moon of the year, so do make sure to join in and have lots of fun.

We are also introducing a new feature to our pawties to remember the L&LL cats who have gone to the Bridge over the past month. If I've missed anyone, please let me know. Our new kitties at the Bridge to look out for tonight are:
Charlie (Jess) @Charlie'sMom22
Noogi (Helen) @Helen + Noogi
Everyone please hold the families of our new GAs in your thoughts. We all know how difficult it is to lose one of our extra-sweet kitties.

So find your best pawty outfits and come join the pawty!

As always, we have new aprons for the pawty too.

I am so relieved that Ivan has a party to go to tonight! He's used to spending time out on our three-season porch, but it's been cold here in Minnesota and his little toes and ear-tips get so cold after just a short time. He hasn't known what to do with his extra time and so has been restless and filling some of his time with naughtiness. I hope he'll have lots of fun tonight and dance off some of his naughties with Ruby and the Kittens and the rest of his nice friends.

Q: What does Ivan say when he comes in from the porch with chilly toes?
A: "Cool beans!"

Meanwhile, I have passed a weird milestone. Most who lose a diabetic kitty remain aware of those twelve-hour times each day when they feel like they "should" be caring for their kitty. Felix died in November 2020, and any time since then when I've had to give cat meds I've automatically oriented to his twice-a-day times, up to and including last April when I had a kitty dying of cancer. But this October when I had to give meds to another kitty, I found myself needing more reminders or forgetting. I guess I'm no longer on Feline Diabetes Time, and it's a peculiarly sad thing to part with.

We've had cold, but not enough for snow yet so it's incessant rain and gloom here! Rosa was our cold weather girl - she loved to be out in the snow. I'm sure she would have agreed with Ivan's "Cool beans!"

Yeah. I still panic if I sleep in and miss Roxi's shot time. After all these years with first Rosa and then Roxi, and other meds in between for some of the other cats that always got done at the same time just because it was easier, I've got so used to being on a set schedule that it's difficult to let go of. I know I'm lucky that no-one's on meds right now, but it is a sad thing to let go of.

Very old picture of Rosa in the snow, just because I can.

C'mon Ivan. Time to pawty! Let's eat and drink and dance off all the naughties! Ruby and the kittens will be so happy to have you join them. ~Chef Luna

I can dance and dance, but I always seem to have more naughties! Tee-hee! -Ivan
It's OK Ivan. I do too. My favorite one at the moment is sticking my paw under the beans' bedroom door when I'm in there and making the door rattle in the frame. They tell me that's very naughty because it wakes them up. I told them I just playing with my brother who I don't really like. But when all I'm doing is tagging his paw...that's fun! 🤣 ~Chef Luna

Kitties all!

It's time to stop our dancing and feasting for a while. There will be plenty more time for that later tonight - our pawty will continue until dawn! But for now, it's time to gather round for the best part of every Full Moon pawty. It's time for the Circle of Remembrance. Let's all make sure to look out for Charlie and Noogi so we can report back to their beans that they've arrived safe at the Bridge and are with all their friends, old and new! The moon is so bright tonight and the Bridge pawty is just coming into view. We're going to have a great view of all our GAs tonight! ~Chef Luna
