? Frustrated - Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

I tried adding warm water and mixing it up well this morning and it was a no-go. He ate just a small amount and was 'done'. Tonight I'm going to go back to Friskies and then look at the pet store tomorrow to try and find something else he may like.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's more of a smell thing, than texture. He literally would leave the room when I put the food out. Took it into the living room where he was and he went off to another room. He's never done that with any other foods before.

I'm thankful for everyone's advice and ideas... Hopefully I can find something tomorrow he'll accept.
FF Ocean whitefish and tuna in gravy was a hit this morning! Just FYI. But he likes tuna juice so maybe that's why. Funny, he'll only drink tuna juice, won't eat the actual tuna. Today he was hungry so he actually ate some of the shredded part.
I was sticking to chicken & liver mixes (FF and Friskies) because I wanted to limit his fish, but maybe I'll try some more fishy kinds now. I've been to the pet store every day buying can after can of food. It's all trial and error I guess!

I haven't tried that yet... didn't want to risk of making him not like the Friskies since that's the ONLY thing so far that he will eat that isn't kibble. That's going to be my absolute final resort.
I am starting to wonder if Magic is a little nauseas. Tastes food, walks away. Smells food, leaves the room.
My friend, Betina, told me that insulin makes you nauseas until you get used to it. She is a diabetic in remission.

I was told to just rub it on his gums. I'm definitely keeping an eye on him. Just fed him some FF tuna with gravy and he's gobbling it up so that's good. I'm sure the gravy isn't low carb but at least he's eating something. Probably his body sensing the low blood sugar making him hungry.
He's had 86 at +2 (not too low yet). It's +3 now. I'll check again at +4
I think he’s fine today, especially since he ate the FF Tuna & Gravy. Second opinion vet last week told me that they were taught in veterinary school to use just a dab, but it actually takes about a tablespoon of Karo to effect a change and raise the BG numbers. Rubbing it on the gums didn’t work with Maggie. So, also rub into cheeks inside the mouth. If not improving rapidly, I am prepared to use this, an infant enema bulb syringe, bought on Amazon. In lieu of this, a small syringe would also work to give Karo rectally.

Prozinc hasn’t made Fritz nauseated, but since Lantus is a human insulin, that makes complete sense. Can you call your vet and pick up an Rx for nausea?

That's interesting. Mocha has been walking away too... Maybe I should ask for some Zofran to help with nausea?

Yikes, I don't know if Mocha would be too keen on the rectal method! But I would do anything to save his life if I needed to. I have some oral syringes that I could use also. I heard they make pet glucose liquid/gel?? I haven't looked into it yet. I just bought Karo because I wanted something for day one. Now that I'm one week in I can start doing more research.

That could be... but he only does that with the Fancy Feast. Tonight I'm going to give him the Shreds and see if he eats normally. If so, there's something with the FF that isn't agreeing with him.
It's possible he's nauseous though because neither of us got much sleep since I was checking on him all night since it was his first dose increase.

I bought this for the most extreme emergency, pretty sure with testing and having his numbers I will never need it. However, it was recommend in the Hypo Kit sticky, so I ordered it.
