Foster Cat Kitty: PMPS 336

Well I SUPPOSE I want her to find a furever home.. but I want to be able to follow how she is doing!! :)

See this is why I can't foster.. I would never give any of them up.. ever.. not strong enough or level headed enough to do it.. Have a ton of respect for those who can however!

Thank you all for all the adoption show vibes. Kitty really appreciates them!

Dawn, I don't have a real good track record as a foster. Four of the cats who live here arrived as fosters. Kitty's not happy here though. She's not a cat lover, and she's in a foster home with seven other cats.

The person who adopts her will have to open a condo in Lantus Land, because I'll want to follow her, too. But our adoptions have been very slow, and it's kitten season now, so Kitty could be my foster cat for a very long time.

Bah.. I have 3 cats and all of them were flagged as shouldn't live with other animals.. they come around eventually :).. 3 years later Nova still hisses at Hitch every single day (all day, if they are within 2 feet of each other)..but I catch them playing and her fussing over him if he doesn't feel well.. it's all just a cover :).

Most of them do work things out eventually, but Kitty's established her own cat-free zone in my bathroom. I finally put a cat bed in the tub for her because that's where she spends most of her time. :(

Probably feels safe for her there.. she also could just like tubs.. I have a tub/sink sleeper ;)..

She'll come around.. I know it.. takes time.. it's amazing how much they can forgive given love and time.. she's already ventured out into cat land.. and it scared the crap out of her.. so she'll retreat for a bit.. but she will make another go at it.. baby steps :)

Again.. things I know you already know.. but it's been a pretty stressful week for you.. and it probably seems like it's been a really long time.. so I'm just reminding you that it has only been a week.. takes a month or two for most cats to learn to like each other ;).

Re: Foster Cat Kitty: 273 ~ +2

In addition to the cats, I think part of the tub thing is that she lived in a small cage with nothing to look at but a cinder block wall for the month she was in the shelter. So even the tub must seem like almost too much space to her. I want every cat who comes here to be instantly happy. And maybe she is happy, as long as no cats come around. I hope so...

yesterday's condo:

We sat on the floor in my bedroom together for a long time while I brushed her, and she purred nonstop.

I think she's pretty happy considering her situation.. stuck in a shelter for a long time after being ditched by family.. strange new home with human doing "mean" things to her to help her get healthy... dealing with BGs all over the place after being overdosed for who knows how long.. that's an AWFUL lot going on.. that she lets you within 20 feet of her is a sure sign that she's really happy.. she's in her shell.. and rightfully so.. she'll keep peeking out of it at you :).
