For a beautiful feral kitty who died today

We have several feral kitties that live in the woods behind my house. My neighbor has been feeding them for years and has had them spayed/neutered by having them trapped and released (she paid for 5 cats to have this done - gotta love her) by a local animal rescue group who use a love trap (I think that is what they call it). They don't come in her house cause her sister who lives with her is highly allergic and they don't want to anyway, but they come there to eat every day and during the blizzards and bad weather, they go in her garage which she left open enough for them to get in and she always feeds them in there so they knew enough to go there in the blizzard.

Today, some JERK  hit one of them with his car and kept going! A beautiful grey long hair with big green eyes that was young, maybe 3-4 years old at the most. I got his plate number cause I was just leaving the house for work when I saw the cat come flying in the air to the side of the road. He slowed down and looked at it and then took off. I was so disgusted. I managed to get his plate number as I was screaming at him. The cat died instantly

My neighbor still does not know because she is not home yet and was already gone. My hubby picked up the kitty and put it in a box and it is on my deck right now. I have to go over there later and tell her :YMSIGH:

Just wanted to let this wonderful cat loving community know so you can all say a little prayer for this little kitty (she was tiny, maybe 5 pounds) so her crossing over the bridge is a good one. I am so very sad about this. I hope the cops arrested him. The cat was easily visible as it was daylight but the guy was speeding and thus did not stop in time. :-x

Oh and by the way, I think my neighbor named her "Miss Priss" because she was always grooming and preening. The other 4 cats are all males. She was the only female and I think two of the boys are her brothers and the other two are much older.

So sad when this happens because of carelessness or someone is so impatient to get where they are going.

Fly free beautiful little tiny grey long haired green eyed girl, Miss Priss. You were loved, even though you were too scared to love back. You will be sorely missed by these caring people.

You have earned your wings. wings_cat

OH how horrible. I'm so sorry that this happened. People are so cruel! I know how hard your day has been today because of it. And you still have to tell your neighbor. My heart goes out to you! rb_icon
I'll keep that sweet kitty in my prayers.

Just told her and gave her the box with Miss Priss in it. She was pretty upset and called the police to see if they picked up the guy who did it. They said they are still trying to locate him. Bet he gets off with a slap on the wrist if anything. Ugh.

My heart goes out to you and your neighbor and little Miss Priss. She is running free and happy over the Rainbow Bridge. I hope the guy gets at least a fat fine. I'm so sorry this happened.

Kitty hugs and prayers for you and your neighbor.

Peaceful times at the Rainbow Bridge for "Miss Priss".

Sending prayers for the sweet little kitty, as you may know in CT it's against the law to hit any animal and leave, there is a fine if found guilty and some community service time (not enough punishment in my book) but please call your local PD.

The cops were called. Hopefully they get him. They claim they are trying to "locate him" but my bet is that they are not trying all that hard

Paws crossed they find the b*********. Jeepers Cats.....how hard can it be to locate someone when they have the tag number from vehicle. Keep calling the cops for updates or they will just let it go by the wayside. WE WANT JUSTICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: The man called the police and said that he hit the cat and that it did not have a collar so he left as it was unsafe to not do so. He is lying. He pulled over and looked out the window and the cat and saw me walking over and yelling at him for speeding and asking him did he not see her! He got off scott free cause the cat did not have a collar and is to blame for being in the road and he did his "due diligence" by calling it in. UGH!

Thanks for your prayers. That little girl deserved better. Cops did not care at all

She did deserve better and I think that there is a special place in H. E. double toothpicks for the likes of him.
So sorry for your loss.

All I can say is WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What if the kitteh was an indoor-only and happened to "escape" when a door was opened?????? My kittehs are all indoor-only and they do NOT wear collars....they don't have to. This scum-bag is a damn liar and doesn't/didn't have any clue about this sweet kitteh.

Miss Priss happy at the Rainbow Bridge. rb_icon Stupid human will be doomed to he**.

The collar would only have meant that he had to get out and look at it to see if there was information to contact an owner. He said since the cat did not have a collar, he had no idea who to tell so he called the cops after he got to work and got "settled in" and had a minute to call. My guess is that his co workers called him a scum bag and told him he had better call it in so he doesn't get arrested. Anyway, because he called on his own, he gets off. He was SPEEDING and hit that cat and killed it instantly and then looked at it and split.

PLUS, he could have asked ME cause he saw me even though he probably did not tell them that part. I know he saw me. My guess is he called cause he figured that I got his plate. I was running up to his car when he took off like a crazy man.

I want to express my condolences for poor kitty. Years ago I lived in a better neighborhood and I used to feed a couple of outside cats, one that I used to feed would run back and forth across the road, I knew it was a matter of time before it got hit by a car. We lived on a narrow street where people parked on the street as most people did not have garages or driveways.
Anyhow I heard a screeching one day and went out and a young guy had stopped the car and he said I just hit a cat was it yours? I said no it was not, I was not sure it belonged to anybody but I fed it.
He said he was sorry and helped me bury the little boy in the back yard.
So this guy was just being a ass, he should have stopped and asked who`s cat it was.

Terri
