Food consumption question

Hello again!

For the past ~72 hours now, Thaiger has not been eating very much.. I was concerned about it yesterday since she suffers from gallstones so had a full blood panel run and urine check and everything came back excellent (labs in her template). The vet couldn't think of a medical reason for the lack of appetite but gave her an anti-nausea shot as well as some fluids to prevent dehydration just in case.. Fast forward 24 hours later and i'm still not seeing much of an appetite increase and she is also not guzzling much water.

She will never say no to a treat but i've been giving those very sparingly since her favorites are loaded in sugar (Temptations Cheesy). If I had to estimate, I would say she has eaten maybe a can and a half of wet food (5.5 oz Friskies Pate) and 1/4 - 1/2 c of dry food (still weaning her off) in almost 72 hours. She weighs 11lbs so I would think she would need to eat a bit more than that.

I do add warm water to her wet food as she prefers to lick up the gravy. She happily ate the fattening wet food and honey last night when we went through a low BG scare but that was only like 4 spoonfuls so nothing substantial. She does have hyperthyroidism and is on on Felimazole (1 2.5mg pill per day). She is still urinating a few times a day but in small quantities and i've seen very small pooh once each day.

Am I paranoid?

Not paranoid, just cautious and thats a good thing right now.

The fluids are important but kind of hard to monitor IMO at the moment because when they are eating canned food (along with adding water to it) their water consumption lowers. My 2 none diabetics NEVER touch water. Hidey loves water, especially playing in it.

As to the treats, have you tried boiled chicken or freeze dried chicken? My cats used to be addicted to temptations but now have switched to favoring the freeze dried. One of them turns into a complete CARNIVORE when eating the freeze dried chicken.....growls and all lol.

If i'm correct on the pooh's i'd say they will be smaller with less dry and more canned because the body absorbs more nutrients from the canned and can break it down better.

As to the intake of food though, not so good. Maybe she doesnt care for the flavor or is getting bored of it? Maybe try a different low carb variety/flavor?

The gallstones can slow or block the bile duct and bile is very important in digesting foods, especially fats. Maybe ask the vet about using some supplemental digestive enzymes to see if that would help?

She is turning her nose up to the pates but I gave her a small handful of her dry food and she gobbled it up. I know that the wet food is preferred but if I get her on a low carb dry food, will that be okay too?

Dry food is not recommended for more reasons than the carbs. Theres a bunch of helpful info on catinfo.org about the reasons why, that being said there are a few that are diabetic friendly....Young again zero carb (5% carbs), EVO cat & kitten (I think its 12% carbs now) Epigen (not sure on the %), & stella & chewys freeze dried (1% I THINK)

Sometimes it can be difficult to find food they like. I feed my cats Holistic select canned, and they each get 1 TBS young again zero carb in the morning. Could it be the pate form she doesnt like? There are low carb options that arent pate like Weruva & Tiki.

You feed what the cat will eat. Moving to low carb anything is better than high carb and an intermediate step.
Evo Cat and Kitten dry
Epigen 90
Young Again 0 Carb (5% as we calculate it)
