Hello Lantus Land!!

It's almost impossible for me to believe that it's been 2 years already since I sat, with tears in my eyes, and watched that amazing OTJ Party Video that D (Noisy) made for my little man Flamie!

Our journey with FD was a bumpy one, complicated by the fact that Flame had broken his leg for the SECOND time in as many years and was in a splint and very uncomfortable for many weeks. Add to that, a battle with severe IBD and steroids, which I could not wean him off completely for a while due to the inflammation in his broken leg. Flame's FD, I'm convinced, was brought on by a combination of long term steroid use for IBD and feeding that awful dry Z/D prescription food. If only I knew then what I know now!!

Like so many others, I found my way here, thru tears and terror at a diagnosis of a disease I knew nothing about. All I knew was, if there was a way to help Flamie.. I was going to find it and do whatever it took to make him well again.

You can't imagine my relief when I found this board!!
I could never, ever have done it without the help of the fabulous people here on this board!! I was so overwhelmed, between dealing with the leg injury and the IBD and the FD, but the people here gave me so much guidance and wisdom and support and that is what gave me the strength to do what I needed to do to make sure Flamie got well again.
And, he did get well again!!! And, he has stayed well now for 2 years!!
I can NEVER thank you all enough!

I know others have said it, but I TRULY feel that Flame's FD diagnosis was a blessing in disguise. It has forged a bond between he and I that leaves me in awe. Flame has been my teacher and my guide and thru him, I have learned so much.
Flamie has taught me the meaning of courage and perseverence... he never gave up. He has taught me patience and given me an appreciation for the little things... like a soft purr next to me in bed and kitty hugs and whisker kisses and being goofy and taking time to laugh out loud!

He has opened my eyes to a whole new world. Because of him, I have been able to help many others, which is truly a gift.
Because of him I learned about things like acupuncture and holistic / integrative medicine. I have pursued Reiki training and have attained my 2nd Degree Reiki, which I now share with both humans and animals. He and I have been on an amazing journey together and Flamie and his "brother" Hobbes continue to inspire me and teach me daily! Animals have such amazing souls and such wisdom!!

Flamie is a goofy, gimpy, sweet, silly, loving, wise, adorable imp of a cat who brings love to my heart and a smile to my face every day! And because of so many people here, I have been able to enjoy every, single day of the past 2 years with a happy, HEALTHY kitty!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Lantus Land and FDMB for all you have done for us and all you continue to do for all of the other FD kitties and terrified Beans who are lucky enough to find there way here!!
Although I am not able to spend as much time here, I keep you all very close to my heart... and always will!!

Sendng much love to all of you and your furbabies!! xoxoxo

Happy Annifursary!

Two years is amazing. Flamie is an amazing boy, he went OTJ even with a bunch of factors that should have made that goal a big stretch. You worked hard, and so did Flame. I wish you another two years OTJ (and many more).

awwwwww! So much empathy, gratitude, perseverance and peace in your post... beautiful!
Congratulations on Flamie's 2 year Anniversary of OTJ!

congrats on the 2 year annifursary!!!

Cosmo says hello to Flamie, and says he'd like to come visit Flamie's condo at the Falls for a night of mischief and tunaritas.

I don't think we should encourage such shenanigans, but maybe they both deserve it.

Congratulations on your 2 year annifursary! Having met Flame and Hobbes, I know what wonderful boys they are! And so bribe-able for freeze dried treats!

Seriously though, you've been through so much and have come through it stronger and better! Donna - you are one amazing momma bean and one amazing woman!

I thank you both for your journey here, because Maui and I owe you both so much. If you weren't here to meet us when Maui was diagnosed, Maui's journey would not have gone as smoothly as it did.

So, thank you my dear friend for more than you will ever know. Hugs to you and smoochies to Flame - you know where - right on his noggin between the ears, where he can't reach to wipe off the cooties!

Hey Flame! Dude, what's this I hear about you having an annifursary and not inviting me! After everything I've done for you! I let you drive me around, pick me up, carry my bags and shopping, drink my special nipjitos and you forgot to invite me to your party! Well never mind, come on over pick me up and let's hit the clubs for a fun night of partying!

Signed, Maui the Magnificent

Did I mention Flame, that because of you and your mommy bean, I'm my magnificent self again! So, Thanks! and happy annifursary! (even if you did forget to tell me)

Donna...what a beautiufl post! I am so happy for your success with a happy Flame today!
I wish you a forever filled with healthy happy days and lots of giggles. You said such beautiful things about what you have learned from your furbabies...you speak as if you know how I feel exactly!
Thank you so much for your lovely post.... (((Donna, Flame & Hobbs))) :YMHUG:

Happy Annifursary you two! It couldn't happen to a nicer bean and kitty. Make sure next year we get to celebrate 3 years OTJ OK/ Enjoy but don't party too hard.

Thank you all so much for your kind words! I cried happy tears all over again when reading all your posts just like I did 2 years ago! It was so good to "see" some of you again!

And Hillary, you've no need to thank me! Your thanks has been in paying it forward which you have done beautifully, many times over my friend. After all, that's what this is all about... to give back some of what we have received with such abundance and to take this new found knowledge and help others.

I just wanted to thank you all for being so wonderful and for sharing Flamie's special day!!

Purrs, headbutts and whisker kisses all around!

Congrats to you both for your awesome 2 year anniversary!!! I too remember all the stories and struggles you and Flame had. I was in awe at your determination and courage. I hope that all of us oldtimers whether OTJ or not, can provide hope and encouragement to the newbies that come here struggling, wondering if they will ever have healthy babies again. I think Flame and Luck and all the others can say yes. Follow the protocols and you will have happy healthy 5 p babies again. Maybe not OTJ, but regulated healthy cats. All any of us ever wanted we when started this journey!

Congrats again Donna, continued good health to all 3 of you!!! :)
Kim & Luck

Oh Flamie! Here you are, celebrating 2 years OTJ. A heartfelt congratulations to you both.

This paragraph resonated with me:
"I know others have said it, but I TRULY feel that Flame's FD diagnosis was a blessing in disguise. It has forged a bond between he and I that leaves me in awe. Flame has been my teacher and my guide and thru him, I have learned so much.
Flamie has taught me the meaning of courage and perseverence... he never gave up. He has taught me patience and given me an appreciation for the little things... like a soft purr next to me in bed and kitty hugs and whisker kisses and being goofy and taking time to laugh out loud!"

Please, please, give Flamie a big smooch from me.
