Well, it appears it has been determined that I need more experience with pet diabetes! The family dog, Sally, crashed Thursday and had to be rushed to the local Emergency Vet. Upon arrival to the ER, Sally's heart rate was 285 (120 normal) and I was directed to take her to the Vet School immediately for more advanced treatment. It was later determined, that the elevated HR was due to severe dehydration. She was admitted into the ICU (debit or credit!!!) and the saga began..............GUESS WHAT??!!!! You've got it....She is Diabetic and has severe pancreatitis. She remained in ICU for 4 days before coming home today. She still feels bad and is not eating good, but hopefully she will start feeling better soon.
Sally now has her own meter, lancets and strips!!! She is on NPH---My biggest fear is giving Prozinc to her and the N to Kitty!
I am almost scared to drink the water at my house.........who would imagine I would be "Blessed" with two diabetic pets?!
I just wanted to check in and share my news! I am sorry I have been MIA, but I do read daily!
I am looking forward to trying to post more frequently---maybe I can join the Breakfast Club!!!
