Jennifur is roughly 15-17 yrs old, red point meezer with serious cattitude, ( vet prefers we stay home and rx over phone  ) later stage CRF and what Vet refers to as collapsed bladder.
She eats Friskies canned on ceramic plate that is washed daily and drinks water from metal dish that is also washed several times a week. She takes one sprinkle capsule of cosequin for cats twice a day with her meal. Otherwise, no meds or anything else. ( she won't allow it anyway)
She has always had chin acne- when she arrived as a stray 12+ yrs ago it was mild with one or 2 purple bumps.
Over the years it has progressed and nothing seems to control it. In her younger years she was given a steroid for it that did not help. She has been on Anti biotics from time to time that don't touch it either. (not that it would, but vet wanted to try it)
Now it is heavily in her ears- inside the canal and from time to time a purple bump will appear just outside the canal on her head, too. Her chin is replete with it.
She itches from time to time, shakes her head...It has to be uncomfortable- I don't know what to do for it or even if I should do anything.
With her kidneys so compromised, I hate to add anything she won't clear her body of or that would add to the toxin build up. The only way to medicate her effectively is by injection- quick and dirty and get out. She does NOT tolerate fuilds and I draw the line at forcing them when it takes 3 large humans to hold down a freaked out 8 pound geriatric kitty that is scared to death and sick to the bone. Sometimes the cure is worse than the suffering.
Anyway- does anyone have any suggestions on any way to treat the acne, to lessen the itching...I can't imagine how uncomfortable it has to be and I hate that for her. My vet doesn't know what to do and our local cat guru feels that with her kidney function so inadequate, she wouldn't tolerate any steroids. She also thinks the acne is a result of the toxin build up in her system that the kidneys cannot process.
Thanks in advance for you suggestions.
