Jennifur is roughly 15-17 yrs old, red point meezer with serious cattitude, ( vet prefers we stay home and rx over phone  ) later stage CRF and what Vet refers to as collapsed bladder.

She eats Friskies canned on ceramic plate that is washed daily and drinks water from metal dish that is also washed several times a week. She takes one sprinkle capsule of cosequin for cats twice a day with her meal. Otherwise, no meds or anything else. ( she won't allow it anyway)

She has always had chin acne- when she arrived as a stray 12+ yrs ago it was mild with one or 2 purple bumps.

Over the years it has progressed and nothing seems to control it. In her younger years she was given a steroid for it that did not help. She has been on Anti biotics from time to time that don't touch it either. (not that it would, but vet wanted to try it)

Now it is heavily in her ears- inside the canal and from time to time a purple bump will appear just outside the canal on her head, too. Her chin is replete with it.

She itches from time to time, shakes her head...It has to be uncomfortable- I don't know what to do for it or even if I should do anything.

With her kidneys so compromised, I hate to add anything she won't clear her body of or that would add to the toxin build up. The only way to medicate her effectively is by injection- quick and dirty and get out. She does NOT tolerate fuilds and I draw the line at forcing them when it takes 3 large humans to hold down a freaked out 8 pound geriatric kitty that is scared to death and sick to the bone. Sometimes the cure is worse than the suffering.

Anyway- does anyone have any suggestions on any way to treat the acne, to lessen the itching...I can't imagine how uncomfortable it has to be and I hate that for her. My vet doesn't know what to do and our local cat guru feels that with her kidney function so inadequate, she wouldn't tolerate any steroids. She also thinks the acne is a result of the toxin build up in her system that the kidneys cannot process.

Thanks in advance for you suggestions.

wow. so sorry melissa
I know debs spot had chin acne and was told to clean with peroxide.I think also some med of some kind to rub on, maybe she will see this and tell her story not sure what to do about the ears unless there is some type of liquid you can squirt in there. the itching has to be horrible in the ears. some kind of cortizone ointment.
that is all I can think of.
PS
no order yet. might have to call although said was shipped and no tracking #

fyi: Peroxide will sting on any open wounds; if any have broken open, dilute the peroxide, maybe by half. It is what a vet recommended to me.

If she will tolerate it, use a small ball of cotton, wetted with the peroxide, and lightly wipe it over the affected areas.

There are a number of veterinary ear cleaners formulated specifically for the ears, which may mean there are ingredients to keep it from over drying the ear. Discuss with your vet which ones might be most useful for the problem.

I had a civvie with some pretty bad chin acne despite the fact that the cats do not eat or drink out of plastic or play with plastic toys (which can make it worse). My vet gave me very good advice which was to get an acne product with the lowest dose of benzyl peroxide possible (2.5%) and to put a thin coat of it on the acne. I found a neutrogena product with only 2.5% bp and it cleared up his acne very quickly. He did not like the stuff, but I only put on a thin coat. I have another civvie with a bad spot of acne and given it to her too. I've only experienced chin/lip acne so I'm not sure about what to do in the ears, but if a cleaner is needed, I like Oti Cleans.
