:rb_icon: I posted earlier this week what looked like Dusty having a reaction to some salmon but he continued to have issues breathing and eating and it turns out he had congestive heart failure. He was deteriorating quickly so we decided to help him cross the rainbow bridge. During his long 15 years he showed me love, devotion and loyalty. He used a few of his lives along the way like when he fell off my third story balcony but luckily ended up on the balcony just below mine. Then when he was diagnosed with diabetes, I was able to quickly get him into remission and he was with me another wonderful 6 years. It was so strange coming home with an empty carrier and even stranger when it was time to feed my civie Beni and Dusty. I was there holding him and telling him I loved him and just like that he was gone. Until we meet again my little Dusty. :rb_icon:

I'm so sorry for your loss

My deepest condolences to you, I know all too well how you are feeling right now. Fifteen years of love is a lot to be happy about, but it never really is enough. I wish you peace and comfort.

So sorry to hear it was Dusty's time to leave you :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Fly free sweet Dusty and land softly. There are lots of friends to greet you at the Bridge. Send a sign that you're happy and healthy again to your loving beans soon!cat_wings>o

I'm so sorry. You must be in shock-- certainly, hearing about the "salmon" problem, there weren't any indications of how serious it was. Poor little guy. He was so lucky to have you watching out for him through his adventures, and being for him at the end.

Treasure the happy memories of your sweet guy. He'll be waiting for you at the bridge :rb_icon:.

Oh no!!! I am so very, very sorry for your loss. We are so lucky for the time we have with them and for the love they give us. :(:bighug::rb_icon:cat_wings>o

Rick I am so very sorry I am crying as I read this, such a beautiful boy, my heart goes out to you, I wish you peace and comfort. I'm sure he knew you loved him like crazy, Gentle hugs

What a lucky kitty! I hope you take comfort in the careful care you offered Dusty through all his years with you. Peace to you and to Beni as you mourn.

I'm so very sorry to hear Dusty has gone ahead. He knew he was loved and cherished right to the end and will be waiting for you at the bridge. You were his guardian angel and now he is yours. Rest in peace Dusty! cat_wings>o :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: for you at this difficult time.

Oh no! I didn't think anything serious beyond a minor allergic reaction when I read about the salmon either. My heart breaks for you, and for Beni... If Dusty and Beni were close, or strangely, even if they weren't, especially in a two cat household you could notice some changes and he'll need you a lot now too.

Hugs to you both. I'm very sorry :(

That must have been a terrible shock, I'm very sad for you, having lost your little kitty so suddenly. :(
Sending you and Beni wishes for peace and comfort. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you. Yes Beni and Dusty were very close. Beni spent the night looking for him and it was so very sad. We'll get through this together.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. All the daily routines make it so hard. From going to bed and Dusty not being there like he always was to getting up and feeding them breakfast and him not being there. I look at the sliding door where Dusty spent his time looking at birds... he loved loved loved just laying there looking at them. We'll get through this, as many of you have reminded me I did love him so much and care for him. He loved me just as much.

Rick this really breaks my heart , poor Beni , he is a handsome boy. this is the worst part having pets, when you have to say good bye.
Over the years I have had to say good bye to 3 kitties, it never gets easy.
But it's worth having them and taking care of them and giving them the best life they can have. So we have to remember the good times, but it's hard.
Just love Beni to death and like you said you both will get through it, gentle hugs to you both

I now know that that day I saw him gasping for breath he almost died a horrible death. I was given a few more days with him and was able to peacefully release him from his suffering. I'm very grateful for that.
Thank god, that had to have been the scariest thing, he went peacefully and that's all that matters. I have 2 boys they are brothers. Tyler is the diabetic and Perry has kidney disease stage 2 but he has been doing fine his blood work hasn't changed so that's good news. Perry also has had seizures, but hasn't had one going on 9 months .
He takes phenobarbital twice a day and keppra three times a day to control them, plus cerenia for nausea. This may sound awful but I look at Perry and say to myself please let him not get any worse because I would just die if the kidney disease progresses any more than stage 2. They are both 11 yrs old
Maybe this will make you chuckle for a minute . Me and my daughter's all time favorite rock band is Aerosmith, so we named them after Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. We certainly named the right one Tyler because he doesn't shut up lol
Now today Tyler has me on my toes with his readings having to steer him with food all day so far

So sorry for your loss. What a beautiful kitty! I hope he is chasing birds in the afterlife.
Me too! I just remembered that normally there will be a bird or two out on the balcony table eating bits of apple I leave them so Dusty can watch them. Well yesterday morning Dusty got a treat, there were like 10-15 birds out there of all kinds. Like they came to say goodbye to him. He loved it so much, even ran out there chasing them all away and ran back inside all excited. Wow...

I wouldn't call it luck but so many of us never get the chance to release them from that pain. I'm still kicking myself for waiting 48 hours too long with Noah.
Fly free Dusty, you were loved by all. :bighug:
Don't kick yourself, it's a hard decision. I almost opted to bring him home because we always have hope, it was very hard to decide so suddenly. It's not easy for anyone.

So sorry for your loss. Love the pictures of your sweet boys and the story of the birds sending him off. My heart breaks for you and Beni.

Thanks for the chuckle regarding your kitties names and may Tyler and Perry keep singing a long long time!

My deepest condolences on the loss of your handsome grey boy. :bighug: It's so hard to lose a heart kitty.

Thanks for sharing the pictures.
