I'm flying blind on vets instructions to raise Bonnie to 10U as she might have Hyperthyroidism. I need help as I'm raising it without a definitive test and just bought 2 months of fancy feast which last time took her down to the 3s and now she's in mid to high 20s and hit 30.7 I need help as I don't want to do it while transitioning to a low carb food. The vet isn't available til Thursday at which stage he will do the urine tests.
I run the full curves but she hates it so there's a stress level to consider. As I won't raise to 10 yet when should I test to see if it's working (without doing a full curve)

Do you have a spreadsheet you can share with us. ?
Without some BG data to see we cant really help you with dosing advice.
Are you hometesting?

It sounds like you’re home testing. You need to test before each shot and at least 2 more times a day to see how low the dose is taking her, like around 5 or 6 hours after the morning shot and one before going to bed test about 2 hours after the evening shot

How do I link my spreadsheet? It's not very full as I couldn't do much as I needed a knee replacement and bending was impossible. The vet did one curve so I haven't got the numbers but I have the old curves and the one I just did
How do I attach it?

Unfortunately I cannot work out how to do it. Her curve 10 days ago was a zig zag. Nadir was at +6 (normally +8) and her highest reading was 30.7 at at +10
She hates curves but I do them as stuck in a cage at the vet with a Libra in at a cost of $300 is ridiculous bcoz they're not doing anything except stressing her out!!
With the glitch in loading spreadsheets on here I can't send it but I made it public at one stage so someone here could read it.
I've never done morning readings due to needing the knee replacement but I can do them now however there's nothing to compare them to but I can start them now to see what the Fancy Feast does.

If you can start getting a reading before you feed and give the dose, each cycle...that is at AMPS and PMPS, that would be very helpful.
Then if you could get a test in during the cycles to see how low the dose is taking Bonnie, that would be also very helpful. Just get the mid cycle test sometime between +3 and +7 if that is possible

Here is a link helping us to help you link. If you noticed, our members have some basic information about their cat's in their signature. This helps us to not pester you by asking the same questions (your cat's name, insulin type, date of diagnosis, etc.) repeatedly. We also have a link to our spreadsheet in our signature. We are very numbers driven. The spreadsheet is a record of your cat's progress. By linking it in your signature, we can follow along and provide feedback should you need the help.

Tap on your name up top, then tap on signature add the information that is asked in the Blue Link Helping Us To Help You and then tap Save.
I see @Bandit's Mom Bhooma was tagged to set up your spreadsheet

@Deborah Jordan I will send you a PM with the details I need to set up your spreadsheet and signature. Look for it in the Inbox at the top right corner of this page.
I have a spreadsheet already. Chris Ronkoski helped me several years ago. When I couldn't source Fancy Feast it was moot bcoz she just kept getting worse. Vet wants her on 10U Lantus and I flipped out. Have now sourced it and bought in bulk. Her 30.7 reading Friday made 3.2 on Monday morning look like a mistake. I stupidly shot 5U LANTUS instead of 8U then realised what I had done and Chris came to my rescue. I assume you can see my spreadsheet (email address removed by mod for safety)

It's important to remember that once she went on the Fancy Feast, the sugars dropped dramatically, so you had to reduce the insulin dose. So instead of giving the 8u, you reduced to 5u and even then the sugars dropped below 5, so there's been more reduction. Today you gave 3u on a pre shot of 8.2, and it's gone up quite a bit, but that may be a bounce from yesterday's low numbers. You certainly can't go to 10 units from what you're giving now. You honestly need to be patient, let the low carb food do the job and let her body adjust to those lower numbers. I know how hard that is, especially when you see those high numbers, but the overall trend has been her blood sugars coming down with the change in food and the decrease in dosage.
