Jr. Mint's eating, drinking, peeing, and pooping. When I saw him this morning, and spoke to him, he gave front pawed happy feet. There were spots on the carpet next to him where he laid last night. I'm concerned that the antibiotics aren't helping. There's still a fair amount of leaking, as well as blood in the urine. It's pink, but still a concern. He's on Clavamox 2x a day, and an anti-inflammatory 1x a day. I hope that this clears up rather soon. He goes in for a checkup tomorrow morning. Tomorrow morning can't happen soon enough.

Is this constant leaking normal as he's healing?

I know that I'm going to be changing his diet, and I've already started doing that since he got home. As he's not 100% fond of ht A/D food that was given to us, I've mixed in a bit of Friskies T&G to get him to eat it. He loves Friskies.

I'm posting this on the Health section, too.

When Savannah had a UTI ( a pretty bad one too) there was a little blood in her urine (possibly from all the straining). I guess try and give it until the rest of the day to let the antibiotics work, but if it seems to happen more or if he seems in pain you may want to call the vet.

He was hospitalized Wednesday, and they gave him IV fluids with the antibiotics in it Thursday morning. If I remembe correctly, she did say that it'll take a few days for the medication to work. It just concerns me a lot as I haven't gone through anything like this before.

What is the anti-inflammatory drug? If it's a steroid, it could be working to weaken the immune system.

I have had two UTI kitties, and one of them presented with leaking blood and urine. It cleared up almost immediately with starting antibiotics (Baytril). Forgive me if I don't know the history, as I am not on the board much, but was a culture and sensitivity done to make sure the correct antibiotic is being used?

Also, I have always taken the kitty back in after about 7 - 10 days of tx for a repeat C&S, to make sure that the infection is being effectively treated, and then again about two weeks after tx ends.

It sounds like it's possible that the UTI is not under control, or that something else is causing the symptoms.

I'm not an expert on any of this, just sharing my experience.

He's on Clavamox, and the anti-inflammatory is Prednisolone. He was given Clavamox while being treated at the vet's office (not the hospital), and he's to be getting it 2x a day orally. I've given his first pill this morning, plus 1/2 a Pred (per the vet's advice) this morning, too.
