Delmer will be 16 on Nov 12. He has had diabetes for over a decade. I apologize if I'm not posting this in the right place. I couldn't figure it out.
Last night he failed an easy jump. He fell. This morning his tail was limp. He is standing on his back tippy toes. Rigid legs. Peeing standing up. I'm keeping a close eye on his blood glucose levels. I'm sorry if this is an ignorant question, but based on the below data should I dose him with insulin tonight? (prozinc)
Nov 2. 12:00 PM insulin 2.5 units
1:55 p.m. 325 bg
5:19 p.m. 136 bg
7:08 p.m. 66 bg - put molasses on gums and fed him.
9:09 pm 99 bg
12:00 AM 150 bg
1:09 a.m. 188 bg.

I'm so worried about him. I would really like for him to live longer than now. But I will not let him suffer.

Hi Dawn we need more information on Delmar
This is where you can set up what we call your signature, it's at the end of everyone's post in gray letters. Just tap on your name up top then tap on signature and add this information. You will link it to your spreadsheet

  • Add info we need to help you:
    • Caregiver & kitty's name
    • DX: Date
    • Name of Insulin (do not include dose or frequency)
    • Name of your meter
    • Diet: "LC wet" or "dry food" or "combo"
    • Dosing: TR or SLGS or Custom (if applicable)
    • DKA or other recent health issue (if applicable)
    • Bexacat or Senvelgo (if applicable) and dates
    • Acro, IAA, or Cushings (if applicable)
    • Spreadsheet link. Please put the signature link on the bottom line of your signature information, on its own, so it is easy to find.
    • Please do not put any information about your location in the signature for security reasons. If you wish to add your country location, please add it to your profile.
Be sure to click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom. If you need help urgently it is important we know these things at a glance. We don’t want to waste valuable time finding out information.

Can you set up our spreadsheet , we use it to track our cats BG This link will tell you how to set it up and explain how to use it

You have done an amazing job looking after him for a decade with diabetes.
With his current issues I think you should take him to the vet to be assessed to be on the safe side.

My thought was to have a vet take a look at your kitty. He may have a sprain from the fall. FWIW, my diabetic was not happy about jumping places after she missed an easy jump. She was also quite embarrassed.
