Thanks to all who help out here. I wanted to let people know about DCA which kills cancer cells and leaves everything else alone. Helped my dad shrink his lung tumor in half in one month and there are no side effects. I've been giving it to 2 cats diagnosed with gastric lymphoma along with prednisolone but now after such a long course of steroids, the cat getting all the great holisitic herbs has gone Diabetic. The vet switched to Budesonide but isn't sure it fights gastric lymphoma like Pred. Switched from Vetsulin to Levemir but the numbers are still high. Hasn't been a week yet. I know most vets think Chlorambucil and Pred is the only way to treat gastric lymphoma and they want you on it for the rest of the cat's life. I asked to go off steroids to lower Blood sugar and do another endoscopy to see if we've cured the lymphoma but the vet says no. So how would you ever know if the cancer is in remission?
I don't like the idea of chemo forever. When you read about average remission rates for Gastric Lymphoma it is about 2 yrs. I asked "what happens next?" Does the cat die? The vet says she's usually seen them develop other issues like other tumors or kidney disease. Can't chemo possibly contribute to weakening the body's defenses against other issues? Thanks in advance for any suggestions and good luck to all those out there with furry babies!

In the Yahoo feline lymphoma group the a vet who frequently posts said that budesonide does nothing for cancer and prednisolone does not really fight cancer either.

Sounds like you are talking about small-cell intestinal lymphoma. That is the standard treatment for that kind of lymphoma.

Not really die but gets very sick and euthanasia is generally in order. Thee are more powerful chemo drugs that may help. My Mario who had small-cell intestinal lymphoma lived about two years with only Chlorambucil, his oncologist did not want to add pred. At the end hi had diarrhea, was lethargic and did not want to eat on his own.

I Google about DCA and cancer and really did not find anything recent on iot. There was a little 2007 study, but nothing newer. Id not by the rational that since DCA is cheap and can't be patented is the reason what there has not been any real trials to show that DCA really works.

I had a no diabetic cat with CKD and intermediate cell lymphoma. I won’t go into the details but she was starting to go into remission on chemo injections and prednisolone but had to stop chemo because of a bad oncologist error. Prednisolone kept her at bay for about 9 months. Another person I know has a cat with both small cell and large cell intestinal lymphoma who is stable at this point on the treatment for small cell. I would consult with a good oncologist. Good luck. ECID.
