Thanks to all who help out here. I wanted to let people know about DCA which kills cancer cells and leaves everything else alone. Helped my dad shrink his lung tumor in half in one month and there are no side effects. I've been giving it to 2 cats diagnosed with gastric lymphoma along with prednisolone but now after such a long course of steroids, the cat getting all the great holisitic herbs has gone Diabetic. The vet switched to Budesonide but isn't sure it fights gastric lymphoma like Pred. Switched from Vetsulin to Levemir but the numbers are still high. Hasn't been a week yet. I know most vets think Chlorambucil and Pred is the only way to treat gastric lymphoma and they want you on it for the rest of the cat's life. I asked to go off steroids to lower Blood sugar and do another endoscopy to see if we've cured the lymphoma but the vet says no. So how would you ever know if the cancer is in remission?
I don't like the idea of chemo forever. When you read about average remission rates for Gastric Lymphoma it is about 2 yrs. I asked "what happens next?" Does the cat die? The vet says she's usually seen them develop other issues like other tumors or kidney disease. Can't chemo possibly contribute to weakening the body's defenses against other issues? Thanks in advance for any suggestions and good luck to all those out there with furry babies!
