Curve/furshots/missing doses

I was planning on doing my first curve with James tomorrow but I think I may have given a Furshot last night will this effect the data of the curve? (I think it was a partial one, there was a tiny drop of insulin on his fur but I got most of it in, this is the first time it has happened)


Also I will definitely be missing 2 doses this upcoming weekend, its my SILS wedding and I’m in the bridal party. Everyone I would trust to test/give insulin will be at the wedding. I recently moved so don’t have a pet sitter I’m comfortable with and my vet doesn’t board and is an hour drive away in my old town.


Will this set him far back? And knowing that I will be missing 2 doses does it even make sense to do the curve/adjust the amount of insulin before then or should I just wait until we are back on schedule after this weekend?

Do his numbers agree with a furshot?
That’s a tough decision. Once you get back after missing 2 doses, there’s little point in doing a curve right away until he settles back into routine.
If you’re planning on doing the curve before you leave to know how to adjust his insulin, is it even very helpful? As you wouldn’t want to increase his dose if you won’t be there. I suppose doing the curve will let you know if you should decrease, so there’s that.
 
I think they numbers show a furshot but I'm still very new with all this.

I think I'll do the curve no matter what then stay with the same dose until next week when I can monitor better. More info can't be a bad thing

Its such bad timing. I'm looking for a reliable cat sitter but I'm really scared to have anyone else give him shots unless I'm confident they will be able to check his bg first. He's a great cat but skittish around new people I'm not sure how he will handle a stranger testing him at all.
 
I don't see any evidence of a fur shot, and BTW, you're doing great, I would never have guessed you had only been at this a week.

FYI, if you are going to follow SLGS, you do a curve after 7 days on the same dose, not 6. Unless James is completely amenable to ear pokes and you want to do a curve, don't feel like you have to.

More data is always better though!
"After 1 week at a given dose perform a 12 hour curve, testing every 2 hours OR perform an 18 hour curve, testing every 3 hours. Note: Random spot checks are often helpful to "fill in the blanks" on kitty's spreadsheet. The goal is to learn how low the current dose is dropping kitty prior to making dose adjustments."

The worst timing indeed, I hope it works out ok. I have heard of owners calling their vet to see if a vet tech wants to make a little extra money and come test/shoot. Couldn't hurt to ask, maybe one of their techs lives between you and the vet and it could be an option?

I was thinking today was day 7 so curve day, not after a full 7 days. My bad I swear I'm losing it lol

I might skip it until next week then, I don't want to stress him out if its not needed.

How long after missing doses will he be regulated again? Do I need to wait another full week for the curve?

I think we all have a bit of brain melting as we try to absorb all of the new information lol. Don't feel bad!
I don't know about the curve, as I use a different insulin. I'm sure Janet will be able to let you know. Good luck1

Do curves whenever you want. Do try to get a before bed test in, esp when you aren't able to get a mid cycle day number.
