Dear Cosmo - please know how much you are loverd (& admired by us guys). We know you will do whatever it is that you have to, but we sure would enjoy the pleasure of your company for alot longer. Know that snowflakes & good wishes are coming in by the tons. Your friend, Lanky

HI All,
Cosmo is grazing a little bit. He's eaten a few bites of rotisserie chicken, a few pounce treats, and a few bites of hawaiian bread. I'm encouraged in one way, but discouraged in another (his normal self would've chowed down on all of these. eaten until he blew up like a balloon).

I'm going to the hospital to get the SQ injectable steroid, b/c I don't want to stress him by trying to pill him. I think that this decision... is to give me a few more days with him. I'm pretty sure the pill form is less... damaging, but it sounds like some steroid is better than no steroid.

On the other hand, I see that his tummy is getting bloated again (a sign of p-itis or?) but he's not acting like he's in pain yet.

Dr B wants to give him another day to see how it goes. I've already asked what happens if I need to bring him in over the weekend... if that's just handled as an emergency.

Thanks to all for the well wishes, vines, snowflakes, and prayers. He seems to be feeling ok (he's not hiding) and other than getting up to get drinks of water or to check out whats going on outside the window, he wants to be with me. I love my baby so much. And I know he knows this. And I know he loves me too.

Cosmo, we are thinking and praying for the best for you...here are some snowflakes for you to play with. cat_pet_icon

We're doing well. No crying for the last 90 min, and he ate 6-8 pounce treats, 2-3 bites of McD's chicken tenders. Still no interest in his own food.

Of course, all these carbs... I took his BG... 148. Highest it has been in a very very long time. I don't care, really. But I don't want him to feel yucky.

I celebrate that he had some food. He knows that you made those "dishes" special for him so even if he can't quite eat with gusto, he is enjoying the love you are sending by giving laying out such a lovely buffet.

(((((((((((((Cosmo))))))))))))))))

Before dinner, I asked all seven cats to send Cosmo a good thought.

And millions upon billions more snowflakes to you Cynthia and Cosmo. Purrcie sends love and fuzzy hugs.

Hey Cosmo - I just love all those carbs too. I managed to sneak some tasty pie crust before Mom caught on. Ever try that? I think you'll like it. Wishing you a good night, I'll be checking on you -- Love, Lanky

He just chowed down a LOT of pounce tartar and plaque control treats (15-20). I'm encouraged. And I read the back, which said that they are "nutritionally complete." Did anyone know that? What do you think Dr Pierson would think? (hahahah).

He's very thirsty though. I'm gonna give him some SQ fluids and then go out for a bite to eat. I can't make myself leave him for long periods of time, but I have to get out of the house to stop staring at him.

I know he feels all the love everyone is sending him. I do too. He's fighting the good fight for now, and I'm appreciating every minute, every moment we have together... as I have for the last 2.5 years.

don't worry we won't tell!
Aw good boy Cosmo!!
As they always say, take care of (((you))) too.

Nice to see a positive report on Cosmo. I hope you can relax tonight, I know how hard it is when they have health issues.

i bet she'd say junk food is better than no food. no food => no kitty.

have you tried KFC?

what's with the bloated tummy? sure it's not ascites? he had that before, right?

cyn, has he ever had a cardiac workup?

eta: you're sure he's absorbing all his SQ fluids, right?

Big enormous snowflake from Canada coming your way!
Glad Cosmo is eating.... illegal food is special and is very good in those special occasions.
((((Cyn))))

I hope eating all those treats makes him want more  once his tummy's stretched a little, from some food, he'll want to refill it. That's my wish. I hope you and Cosmo have a good night.

Healing hunger vines and blizzards of snowflakes to make Cosmo feel better! Glad to hear he's eaten something, even if it's junk food!

Atta boy Cosmo! Keep eatin!

Glad you're having a breakus from crying. With all the crap he's been going through the 148 really isn't that bad.

Try a Wendy's kid's meal.....if there's no Wendy's in your area, I'm sure McDonalds will do. Punk will test her own self for a beef patty.

My heart is with you.

Nutritionially complete? How many does he have to eat? : ) I'm so glad he's eating something for you, but it's a good idea for you to get something for yourself, too.

Please feel better soon, handsome boy Cosmo.

Yay for eating!!! Good boy, Cosmo! Your Momma worries so when you don't eat...and we know how you want to please your Mom and not have her be worrying.

I think whatever you want to feed is is good, Cyn! Like Jackie said, a 148 isn't bad considering what has been going on.

You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers...

We did rotisserie chicken, hawaiian bread, whiskas food (what a joke), mcdonald's chicken tenders (not the nuggets), fries,...

nothing interests him except for pounce treats.

tomorrow, we'll try the KFC. I have a short appointment in the AM, and then I'll swing by a KFC.

He's drinking lots of water. I was encouraged and worried by this behavior, then I thought... of course. He's not getting the water from eating wet food, so he's thirsty.

As for the SQ fluids, he normally gets 50ml in the morning. I gave him 100ml this morning, and another 75ml at 8pm. He's absorbing it all. no baseball on his shoulder.

As for ascites, Jojo said that she's amazed he's lasted as long as he has. Most cats don't last very long after they develop ascites.

I know my posts have sounded a bit more hopeful. I don't mean to sound negative now, but... I don't know that we're looking at weeks or months here. I'm pretty sure I'm looking at a limited number of days. A lot longer than I thought I had on Tuesday, but a heck of lot less time than I want/need with him.

Folks have been terrific though. If/When the time comes, I'll probably ask someone to post an update, then I'll come make a post when I can. Otherwise, I'll keep checking in, b/c well. I know you all know how hard this is.

Adding our snowflakes and hugs to all the rest. Enjoy your time with Cosmo. Tuscany says to give him whipped cream - that's her treat now....
