@Suzanne & Darcy Let me catch you up a bit. I don't think you were with me when I first started here.

He was actually diagnosed last February and the vet put him on hills w/d prescription food dry. I took him in every other week to do a curve and they would up his insulin. He was on 12 units and I felt like he wasn't feeling better. I found this board about 4 weeks ago and started doing the glucose testing myself. At first he was in the black and reds. There are days that I tested every 2 hours. He has been on 100% Fancy Feast Classic for almost 2 weeks and the numbers have been yellow blues. pinks when the shot was skipped.

I cannot imagine what it was like from February to November. I made sure he ate and then 10 minutes later he got insulin, he had a bowl of dry food out the eat all day. At 6 pm he got his insulin again.

Yes. I noticed the -1 units on your spreadsheet and I read through some of your old threads. I was shocked at the 12 units; he was overdosed at that time. Now my cat was at one time on a dose of over 40 units, but he had a high dose condition called acromegaly that made him extremely insulin resistant until I found a medication that could help him. But yes, I was aware of some of the things that you had been through with Thomas. I’m glad you came here.

How is the kitty?

What are the most important numbers to get to see how low he goes? Or is every cat different?
My Little Girl is doing great. She managed to remove most of the sutures in her incision, but I took her back yesterday. The vet just removed the last two stitches as the skin was holding together. There was a layer of sub-cuticular stitches under the skin (made of absorbable material) that is also holding things together. She seems to feel a lot better now and is eating more and using her litter box now. I think she’s lonely though. We each take turns sitting beside her cage and petting her. She purrs.

As for nadirs, with Lantus, onset will generally begin around +2 and nadir is usually around +6 — but every cat is different so you have to collect data to see what happens with your cat. Home curves can be helpful as can just trying to test at different times and fill in gaps over the course of a few days.

oh my gosh my heart aches for her, she will feel better than ever when all is done!

Thomas AMPS were lower this morning than the rest of the days. Hopefully that is good. He is getting on a pattern to his eating schedule finally as well. Should I give 1 unit? I will be closer to home today and should be able to stop by.
