Hi everyone,
I haven't been on here in a long time...again, but am going to update Corduroy's SS this week when I get some time (we always keep his numbers and shot times recorded on paper). His numbers have been kind of all over the place lately, with his nadir being at the end of the 12 hours, which is strange. We've still been giving him .50 though and he doesn't seem to go too low.
The main reason I'm posting though is because it seems that, no matter what I do, he's always constipated. I feel so bad for him! Actually, both of them don't seem to ever poop, but Corduroy is the one I see straining to go, and it's pretty much always not in the litter box. However, he very rarely produces a bowel movement. I gave them each an 1/8 teaspoon of Miralax per day with their morning meals a few weeks ago for a few days with no difference. I've constantly been giving them each a 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil per day (this has been ongoing for about two months now). As of February 16th, I started giving them each a 1/4 teaspoon of Miralax per day, but still no difference yet. And, like I said, although I don't see any poop in the litter boxes from either one of them, Corduroy is the one I see straining all of the time.
I started making raw food from Dr. Lisa Pierson's recipe about a month ago, and I even add way more water than it calls for. I know that with the raw food diet, I shouldn't expect to see as much poop from them, but it makes me worry when I see Corduroy straining to go and can't. BTW, for all other accounts, I feel like the raw food diet has been making them feel much better. Corduroy occasionally even does flips off the wall like he used to when he was a kitten!
Has anyone ever experience this pooping problem with their diabetic kitties, and if so, did you find a solution?
Thanks,
Brigitte
