Completed First Full Day Curve at Home

I am sending in a curve from today to the vet tomorrow for Lucifer. It has been over a week at 1unit 2x a day. I am assuming he will need the increase, and I have new needles coming tomorrow to be able to do so, right now my lines go by 2's. I am not sure what his numbers show as I am new to this, and I am very mad at myself I missed his 430 because my alarm was set wrong and I was making dinner. (It was set for 430 am). He was all over the place in numbers and his lowest was at 630pm, we start his shots at 830 am, Eastern.
 
Yes going forward now that we did his all day curve I was planning on doing an AMPS and a +3 and then a PMPS and +2 or 3. Would that help going forward?
 
No I work from home so I’m super flexible. I just felt bad doing extra pokes when he had this every two hours coming up.

It will help. If the +2-3 is a lot lower than the pretest it’s good to get another test later. If you post the results one of us can tell you if needed. The pokes hurt you more than they do him. Because dosing is based upon how low the dose takes him they are very important. Cats often go lower at night and if that’s happening he could be bouncing and why the numbers are always are high. If the later tests aren’t a lot lower it means more insulin is needed. Can you get one tonight? If he’s still this high we would suggest a .50 increase but only if you will get extra tests as needed.
 
Yes I can get one later tonight and do more testing tomorrow. What is a normal day of testing like? Like how often each day?
 
You may need more testing while figuring out how he responds to insulin and how carb sensitive he is. You will need extra tests if his bg falls lower than in the past. It’s good to test at onset, +2-3 for many. If there’s no change at +2-3 or higher than the pretest another test when possible will help see the nadir. That’s usually +5-7 but can be earlier or later. It’s not necessary every day.

You have tested enough during the day. We just need to see what is happening at night. To do TR only 2 tests each cycle are a must.
 
@tiffmaxee I can’t update my SS from my phone (I will in the am) I keep track on my app and then transfer it. But he just went down 82 in the two hours from shot. He was 611 and is now 529.
 
That’s good. He’s still pretty high. I’d get a before bed test and I think you are good to increase to 1.5 tomorrow.

For future condos we have a format for posting the subject. For today it would look like this:

4/17 Lucifer Amps 544 Pmps 611, 529@+2
