Civie drooling?

Is it normal for a 3 month old civie to drool? :?: My civie occasionally has drool hangng out of his mouth, especially when he's snuggling with me. His teeth look fine and he can eat just fine.
 
many cats drool when snuggling...various amounts. We actually didn't adopt one cat because of the copious amounts of happy drool!
 
When cuddling, snuggling or kneading drooling is a good thing. Means civvie is remembering mom. As kittens to get the milk production going they knead mom's belly and they produce saliva to help with the flow. Your kitty is feeling that kind of love with you :)

I have one little man that used to get me soaked all the time.
 
lol yep drooling when snuggling is a good thing. Both of the our tux twins have earned the nickname Spitty Kitty, because I routinely wake up with a damp pillow from their cuddling in the night. As well with having to now braid my hair at night so I can get a brush through it in the morning from all the kneading I get.

my Mommie Kitty drools when i'm scratching/petting her. i mean reeeeeeeally drools. fiance thinks it's disgusting when i show him the wet spot on my shirt. LOL!!

and fwiw, pull out a thing of treats and she starts drooling at the mere idea of getting them :-)
 
Glad to hear my cat isn't the only one that does this! Truman only started doing it in the last year...well actually, since Max was diagnosed with diabetes, which was last February. But he's 4.5yo now, so he's definitely not a kitten. Max has just recently started to do a little drooling himself while cuddling, and he's 9yo.

Between 2 kids, 2 cats, and a dog, I feel like I'm always getting drooled or snotted on...but I wouldn't be a mom if that weren't happening, right? :lol:
 
Bodily fluids definitely come with the territory :)

If it is a recent development though, you may just want to have a check that his mouth is ok...

Muse was a spitty kitty all her life and her teeth were fine until the day she earned her angel wings, but if it is new I would get his mouth checked just in case. Got to rule everything out, but if the mouth is fine, its just a mommy thing. Heck I'm a grandmother and I'm still getting covered in drool, snot, and other things on a daily basis. I think it just comes with the territory. Well that and our drooler is really a drooler, part St. Bernard.

Thanks :smile: I've only had the civie for almost 2 weeks now. He has a vet appointment in 2 weeks
