Posting for @Charlie's Gmo
Hi, Several years ago we adopted Charlie. He's a Ginger, he was 15 lbs when we got him. His appetite was insatiable, we had always just left out dry food (indoor cat Purina) and fed a can of wet food daily, for all of our previous cats. Our Vet said he need to loose weight, so we switched to1/2 can wet with 1/4 cup dry mixed in twice a day. This helped his weight problem. About 6 months ago he was diagnosed with diabetes. My son has done his best to keep up with the expense. At the vets direction he has fed him 2 cans per day of Fancy Feast Pate, to achieve a high protein intake. He faithfully checks his sugar and gives him insulin shots according to the directions of the vet. In the last week Charlie has been refusing most of his food and barfing up foamy liquid. He has been seen by the vet and is now on an anti-nausea medication and an appetite stimulate. The conclusion seems to be that the additives in the commercial food are not good for Charlie. We can not afford the commercial "raw, natural, no additives cat food (there is a 2nd cat in my sons very small efficiency apartment, so he eats the same food.) We thought we (I, Gmo) would make food ourselves at my house. I thought it would be simple, but upon researching it , it is more complicated then I thought. We want to do it, but we want to do it right. We don't have the money to chase after expensive items, only to find that they are just fake chemicals standing in for real nutrients. We need help to figure this all out.
Thank you.
