WOOT! Celebrating the no ketones!
Yes, - so you've got Wendy, Suzanne, Sandy & I all with high dose kitties. The two primary ones are insulin auto-antibodies - all 3 of their kitties have that. The second one is acromegaly - which punkin had, Wendy's neko has, and Suzanne's Cobb might have. She opted not to test him for that.
We know those endless high numbers - they suck. I felt like i spent the entire summer of 2011 chasing punkin's BGs with increasingly larger doses, but his BGs stayed put. THey don't look as bad as they probably were because we were using a Freestyle Lite glucometer, and when we switched to a Relion the following Feruary, the "real" bad news showed up. The Freestyles measure differently, and the typical Freestyle spreadsheet is all blue and yellow. pretty much no higher numbers ever show up on the Freestyles.
I would hazard a guess that because you haven't mentioned an endless appetite, which is pretty typical with acro, that he may have insulin auto-antibodies. It means his body sorta kills the insulin that's injected. We don't need to figure that out now - but you are definitely not alone. Just mentioning it because otherwise you might have people coming in here screaming at his high dose. The important thing with any cat is to give them the amount of insulin they need.
It looks like you're going to be ok with the increase tonight and the R.
