Hi.. newish at this. My cat did not eat dinner tonight. I think she is nauseous. She ate breakfast and her snack lunch. She is on .25 unit glargine. I gave it to her 45 minutes ago. I will continue to test her numbers tonight.
Should I feed her boiled chicken if she doesn’t want to eat? I don’t want to force feed her if she’s feeling yucky but I’m also worried because I gave her her shot.

If you’re following SLGS, I’d continue with the .1 dose since she dipped below 90 again. Yes, you can try regular chicken. Do you have any any nausea meds like ondansetron or Cerenia?

I dropped today and her numbers went up and she’s feeling yucky. No I do not have any of those. I did give her .25 unit tonight because I was flustered and forgot I started the .01 unit.

She’s likely feeling yucky because of the nausea. I’d go back to .1 tomorrow since she dropped below 90 twice since yesterday. You may want to ask your vet for prescription for both. Ondansetron is faster to get because it’s a human med and you can get it at any human pharmacy. It’s always a good idea to have at least one at hand with a diabetic cat. You can also try baby food if you have any or one of those lickable sticks like Inaba Churu. Even some tuna.

You don’t have your signature setup so I don’t know if she has any other health issues going on…

aside from all of this, her numbers are looking great and she looks like she’s on her way to remission!

Thank you. I’ll call my vet tomorrow. I appreciate you. I just joined today and I had no idea about the signature setup. She’s also stage 2 kidney disease. I just fed her a few small pieces of boiled chicken. She ate a tiny amount. She is definitely feeling yucky. Do you think she will be ok tonight since I messed up and gave her .25 unit. She’s is currently 87 on the libre at +1 and was 124 on Relion meter at PMPS. Relion reads higher.

You want to keep her from going too low. Do you think you can try to syringe feed her some food? If not, do you have honey or Karo in case she drops below 50. You may have to keep an eye on her bg up until +6 to make sure she’s okay.

She’s staying in the 80’s then that’s good but that’s with the help of dry food. Can you try to syringe feed her some regular food? If not, I’d say keep testing until +6 which is when the insulin usually peaks just to make sure she doesn’t go below 50. If she does go under 50, rub some honey or Karo on her gums and retest in 20 minutes to make sure she’s going up. Keep doing that until she’s back in the 80s. Hopefully, it won’t come to that.

you’re doing great. In the am, if she’s still not eating, post a new thread asking for help. It might be best to skip depending on how low her amps is

She just ate the kibble about 10 minutes before I replied to you. And I will. I have honey and nutrical if I need it. I hope I don’t. And I might skip tomorrow and I’ll definitely post fir help. I tried syringe feeding her and it was a disaster. I even swaddled her and she was not having it.

Update. She stayed 80’s all night and is eating this morning normal. Tested negative for Ketones this morning too. So it’s definitely nausea. I called my vet and asked for nausea medication. I’m waiting a call back.

I see you skipped the shot right? Not sure what DD means on the spreadsheet but that’s wise with a 98 amps. Again, great job keeping her safe!

make sure youre vet doesn’t just give you an appetite stimulant. You need an anti nausea because nauseated cats won’t eat even with an appetite stimulant

In the meantime, it would be very helpful if you could set up your signature that way the link to your spreadsheet is right there and we don’t need to scroll up to the top to find it. The HELP US HELP YOU has information about the signature and how to set it up. Thanks!

Drop dose this morning.. and she ate her breakfast too and is actually eating again now. We figured out the cause. I switched from her dry to FF pate and she was doing good. Then last week I bought friskies pate because it was on sale and that is when the upset stomach started. So he told me a probiotic and to stick with FF. She’s doing great this morning. Even played with a cat nip mouse toy. Oh thank you.. I couldn’t figure out the signature thing this morning. I’ll do that.
thank you again for the help and support last night. It meant more than you know.
