Calculating calorie needs

I'm wondering if there is a chart for calculating my cat's calorie needs. He weighs 5.7 kg (vet check 10 days ago) and gets a can of m/d split in 2 daily. He has been getting about 50 ml i/d dry but am slowly cutting that back and use mostly as treats now until I can get something better. On Leukeran days (MWF) I add about 1/4 can FF (off Binky list) to tempt him to eat. His weight has been slowly climbing from 5.3 in July. His insulin has been pretty stable and has recently begun to decrease. I hometest.

He is an outdoor cat so does get some exercise - mostly moving from one sunny spot to another! He doesn't hunt or have access to other food.

Just as with people, cats have varying metabolic needs. There is a very loose number of 10-30 calories per pound per day...HOnestly, if your cat is gaining too much weight, cut down a little and go from there...there isn't a more scientific way to do it.
