Buddy 4/28 No shots since Friday; losing fight with lymphoma?

Wondering if my sweet Buddy is finally losing his battle with lymphoma. He has surpassed anticipated survival rate with almost no symptoms but his BG have been noticeably lower over the past week (thank goodness for home testing!!) and I have not given any insulin since Friday. He's just different.

He is eating only about 20% of what he normally eats and his food aggression is gone. For any of you who have followed my Buddy posts, you know his food aggression is his trademark. I've always said, "When Buddy stops eating, I will know something is not right". He still purrs and head butts me when he jumps on the counter but he just seems tired. He doesn't seem like he is in any pain (although I realize cats are great at hiding it) but seems content to sleep more and eat less. I am so thankful that his BG readings are low enough that I can skip insulin because I would never feel comfortable injecting him and leaving because his eating is so spotty.

I know his days are numbered and recognize that he has fought the good fight against SO many chronic diseases (IBD, hyperthyroidsm, diabetes, and most recently the dreaded lymphoma) and I also know he is a perfect example of "cats having 9 lives" and lord knows he has used every single one of them over the past 15 years. Unfortunately, no matter how prepared we think we are to let them go, we never really are. I know I'm certainly not.

So, please keep us both in your thoughts. I will call the vet Monday and post any updates or changes.

Hope everyone else's sugarbabies are doing well and that all of you have a wonderful Sunday!

Don't give up ! My Ravan will be 17 in June. He has Diabetes ,Kidney disease & High blood pressure. He stopped eating many times. About 6 months ago I started giving him 3 drops of CBD oil before bed. It definitely gets him to eat & he just feels better.
Ravan started have seizures several months ago Since I started the CBD they have stopped! I give it to his sister Peggy Sue also. Ravan & Peggy Sue have even started playing together & with their toys again :D

My Vet told me Cornell University is doing a study on CBD for cats. They recommend 2 brands, the one I use "Paws" by Charlotte's Web and ElleVET for Felines. ( My Vet now gives it to his 2 dogs. He told me he's amazed how much better they are doing now )

I put 3 drops in a small amount of Turkey Baby food & add a tiny bit of water. I get Whole Earth Organic Baby food at the Whole Food store. Some cats would probably eat it in a dish but mine are too fussy I give it to them with a feeding syringe.

Years ago my kitty Daisy had her toe removed due to cancer. She was 16 years old. The Vet said she might live another 6 months. My Daisy lived to be 23 years old & died peacefully in her sleep laying next to me. Our animal companions are stronger & smarter than we know.

Best of Luck to you & Buddy! :bighug:

Hi Kelly... I have been following you and Buddy. It's so hard, I know, to recognize our dependent loved ones are "just tired." You are a special one. Again, its hard I know- its the self-less way to be. Maybe you would pick Buddy up and give him a hug- and another one from me :bighug:

I'm in a similar boat with Max. It really does suck. Max still eats but not as enthusiastically as before. I just got him an appetite stimulant from the vet yesterday. His BG levels have been sky high, partly because I have to feed him higher carb food to get him to eat. He won't touch regular patés anymore. I try to stay as low carb as possible but he's very thin, so I have to give him what he'll eat. He has IBD, pancreatitis, neuropathy and diabetes. Vet says his other bloodwork looks OK and he doesn't suspect any kind of cancer, but I have my suspicions anyway. Sometimes you just...know...you know? I'm trying everything I can to extend his life (while still keeping him happy) but I feel like our time together is running out. It is truly heartbreaking and very scary to think about life without my best friend by my side.

Oh Kelly, I'm so sorry to hear our little scamp Buddy isn't feeling up to his usual antics or appetite! Sending you guys some extra special hugs.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Kelly, I am sad to read your post that Buddy is slowing down. It is very difficult to watch a decline. I am glad you feel he is comfortable as that is all that matters right now. Sending you lots of good thoughts and prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Having a kitty with multiple conditions can be very hard on you. Take care of yourself too Kelly.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Any chance Buddy would let you assist feed him? A little more food in him would give him some energy. I tried to make sure Neko got at least 2/3 of her needed calories. And go ahead and spoil your little guy. Make good memories.

Thank you all for your support. You have no idea how much it meant; I was so broken hearted watching what I thought were Buddy's final days.

Thankfully, I was wrong. Please see my update here. :)

I love both the stories you shared! ANY cat that lives to 23 is amazing but Daisy doing so with a cancer diagnosis is incredible!!
