Wondering if my sweet Buddy is finally losing his battle with lymphoma. He has surpassed anticipated survival rate with almost no symptoms but his BG have been noticeably lower over the past week (thank goodness for home testing!!) and I have not given any insulin since Friday. He's just different.
He is eating only about 20% of what he normally eats and his food aggression is gone. For any of you who have followed my Buddy posts, you know his food aggression is his trademark. I've always said, "When Buddy stops eating, I will know something is not right". He still purrs and head butts me when he jumps on the counter but he just seems tired. He doesn't seem like he is in any pain (although I realize cats are great at hiding it) but seems content to sleep more and eat less. I am so thankful that his BG readings are low enough that I can skip insulin because I would never feel comfortable injecting him and leaving because his eating is so spotty.
I know his days are numbered and recognize that he has fought the good fight against SO many chronic diseases (IBD, hyperthyroidsm, diabetes, and most recently the dreaded lymphoma) and I also know he is a perfect example of "cats having 9 lives" and lord knows he has used every single one of them over the past 15 years. Unfortunately, no matter how prepared we think we are to let them go, we never really are. I know I'm certainly not.
So, please keep us both in your thoughts. I will call the vet Monday and post any updates or changes.
Hope everyone else's sugarbabies are doing well and that all of you have a wonderful Sunday!
