Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve been on. Bubba has been doing pretty good but today and one week ago he had hard stool mixed with diarrhea. What is the probiotic that @Marje and Gracie recommends?
Thanks, I know about that one for stopping diarrhea. What I need is to get him on a good probiotic to help with extremes. Marje used to RX one and I can’t think of the name of it.
Do you mean metronidazole (brand name: Flagyl)? That's an antibiotic. Thanks, I know about that one for stopping diarrhea. What I need is to get him on a good probiotic to help with extremes. Marje used to RX one and I can’t think of the name of it.
Wendy is spot on. I switched from the one I use to use Visbiome Vet but I also still use a pinch of S. boulardi twice every day and if I ever see any soft stool, I increase the amount to 1/2 cap bid until things normalize.Hi everyone! Thanks for responding Marje. Do you use the pet version of Visbiome? And how much do you give? Bubba is more prone to constipation; the diarrhea I think was a result of having hard stool stuck.Wendy is spot on. I hope Bubba is back to normal soon!
Hope the Visbiome does the trick. Thanks so much Wendy! I appreciate the info.Visbiome contains 112.5 billion CFU per pet capsule. The recommendation for cats is 5-10 billion CFU/kg/day. A 11 lb or 5 kg cat would get 25-50 CFU per day which works out to 1/4 to 1/2 capsule - of the pet version. In Canada you can't get the pet version so I give the pouches, which have 450 billion per sachet/pouch. With a slightly under 4 kg cat, that is 20-40 CFU per day 1/20th ish of a package per day. They go a long way! I use some of those tiny measuring teaspoons, about 1/2 of the one called a dash tsp.
Nice to see you, Bobbie! Glad Bubba is doing well, has he been happily catching mousies lately?Hope the Visbiome does the trick.
Hi Christie! Bubba does still hunt some. Not to long ago he brought a vole to the door.. He doesn’t stay outside very long anymore which I’m happy about.Nice to see you, Bobbie! Glad Bubba is doing well, has he been happily catching mousies lately?Hope the Visbiome does the trick.

How are you guys doing?

Hi Bron! Good to see you too! Hope you’re doing well !Hi Bobbie, so good to see you. I hope all is well with you.![]()
Now that’s cold!!! We are having some milder temps lately. It’s been on the mid 50’s.No kidding! A vole! How thoughtful of Bubba to bring you such a lovely gift. Oh we're good here, I think Mav is early hyperT so I'm reading up on things, plus he'll need a dental soon, so I'm trying not to worry too much. It's been a wee bit chilly, had to take the pup for a couple of walks today in -4F. That's colder than a snowman's you-know-what's

Mandy , I don’t think I knew that Rex passed. I am so very sorry. You were such an awesome care giver.I'm glad to hear Bubba is doing well, other than the diarrhea/constipation. I've wondered how you were doing.![]()

I’m sorry I’m just seeing this. I use Visbiome Vet and both cats get 1 capsule a day. That’s based on recommendations from the FB Raw Feeding for IBD Cats and my vet. Thanks for responding Marje.
