The Noodle's out of her gourd on bupe at the moment.

She's beside me on the sofa and feeling really playful. I've been throwing her giant scrunchy for her to swat and catch but she is far more interested in snaring the poor mammy's hands with her claws. :arghh:

Oh! Off she goes! Now mullering her scratchy pole. She. Is. Off. Her. Face.

With the increase in amlodipine her BP's coming back down again, thank the gods.

Oh, that's great news Mogs. She sounds really playful today and I'm happy she's feeling better.
I know you're relieved her BP is down again. That must be frightening and nothing you can do.
I was just saying I need to clip some claws around here. They hurt when they get so sharp.

Blue is heading down. 414 +1

I didn't until now. Should I have at +1?
Is there a max drop rate where I need to give a snack?
The trouble is you don't know what the drop rate is going to be in advance. You have to trial things to see what will help. Also one needs to look back at previous cycles to see what was fed when (hence the need for good food notes in the spreadsheet).

Thinking about the pendulum analogy, if Blue starts high and has a big, fast drop then, based on his patterns and observations of other bouncy cats, he's more likely to bounce high and fast in the latter part of the cycle.

My head's not in a state to do the thinking needed to try to put any numbers to the suggestions (sorry!). The gist of what I'd try would be roughly along the lines of:

1. If rise seen at +1, don't feed. Test at +2.
2. If +1 same as PS, don't feed but test again at +1.5.
3. If small drop seen at +1, feed LC snack. Test at +2.
4. If moderate drop seen at +1, feed MC snack. Test at +1.5.
5. If substantial drop seen at +1, feed HC snack. Test at +1.5.
6. If very big drop seen at +1, feed larger HC snack with a drop of honey. Test at +1.5.

Similar drill at +1.5 and +2 (and possibly +3) as appropriate. Make copious notes.

Then maybe no HC after +4 and no MC after +5 (unless the particular cycle demands they be fed for safety, e.g. when steering Blue through a low or needing to raise him back into safe numbers if he were to dip below the 50 mark).

All of the above are served with a huge side of trial and error, and subject to change at any time. (This is Blue we're talking about! :D)

Thoughts?

You okay Mogs? Just tired?
Because of the PTSD and associated fatigue I have cognitive processing difficulties. My symptoms are particularly bad at the moment. Brain's oscillating between blind panic and complete shutdown. It sucks. I used to have a good brain, and I bitterly resent what has happened to it.

There is good news in all of this: it's becoming quite a strong pattern. If you can crack slowing him down on the descent and repeat the feeding pattern in future cycles then the hope is that the amplitude of the pendulum swings will reduce and see him move to a flatter curve where he spends longer getting used to healthier numbers, with the further hope of then gradually nudging that curve down into better and better numbers by adjusting the insulin dose.

Of course, Blue being Blue, he might just keep bouncing in spite of all our best efforts. We can but try... :)

Okay, he's now down to 91 so I gave him HC with a drop of honey.

The weirdest thing happened. I had to prick him for blood and it was too thick to go up on the strip. I had to do it 5 times before it worked.
You think he might be dehydrated?

I used the last one last night but they are due in today. That's the first thing I thought of.

Just check and should be delivered between 2:15 and 4 and he loves them.

Also, maybe try giving him some LC paté with lots of water mixed up to a watery, soupy consistency?

That’s a good number. Will he eat watered down lc? It would be good to get water into him in case he’s dehydrated. That would be the most likely cause I think.
