blood test question RDW (Red Blood Cell Distribution Width)

I a trying to regulate Tosca, and the numbers are still all over. I try to figure out if there is some other health issue undetected. Looking at her blood test I saw this number - RDW is very high, is 40, and normal is up to 27.
The vet was not very helpful in explaining what it means. Anyone knows if this indicates something I need to pay attention to?

Ith not other symptoms of problems I would just monitor it and general health.

Hematocrit 0.453
The value for these two tends to indicate dehydration.
