Hi there, my wonderful kitty, Putter, is on Lantus, for the most part he is regulated but his BUN/Crea levels are slightly elevated, I am giving SQ fluids every other day along with Vitamin B injections daily but was wondering if anyone has ever used Azodyl with their sugar cat.
I know it is a probiotic used to help filter the toxins out of the kidneys and for the most part I feel comfortable using it but wondering how it would effect his diabetes.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. confused_cat Thank you

It should little if any effect on diabetes. Azodyl is just a strain of bacteria that "eats up" urea and thus lowers the blood level of urea.

I used it on both Winnie and civie Wolfie. No problem w/ BGs as larry said.

There have been a couple cats on the board( mine included) that got GI upset when starting.( diarrhea )
Myself and another member, WCF, found that starting then the recommended dose, and slowly titrating up to the recommended dose worked well.

If you want specifics on what we did, let me know and I'll dig up our posts for you to read !

It seems to be an effective product. Good Luck ! I hope it helps your kitty.
